For over 25 years Cinematic Sound Radio has been playing the very best soundtrack music from film, TV and video games. We feature music from the golden age classic scores of the 30, 40 and 50s, the retro silver age scores from the 60s and 70s, all the way through to the 80s, 90s and the modern-day classics of the 21st century. When tuning in you'll hear interviews with composers, orchestrators, musicians, authors, soundtrack experts and industry insiders. We also do deeper dives into some of the best scores ever composed. And, of course, you'll hear LOTS of great music. We feature 10 unique shows exploring one of the most underappreciated art forms by people who are passionate about the art form. We hope you enjoy the programming as much as we do producing them.

Welcome to part one of episode 33 of THE ARCHIVE on the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO PODCAST.

Both parts include releases from the end of 2021 to the beginning of 2022, starting with music from John Powell's acclaimed score for HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 (VARESE SARABANDE), followed by a re-recording of Jerry Goldsmith's first-ever score BLACK PATCH (INTRADA), and Craig Safan's new score for the classic silent horror film THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (INTRADA).

After playing a suite from John Barry's iconic 1964 score for ZULU (QUARTET), Jason plays excerpts from a vintage release of Raymond Leppard's 1969 film ALFRED THE GREAT (KRITZERLAND), a crucial cue from Mark Isham's 1993 score for FIRE IN THE SKY (INTRADA), and the end credits of Miklos Rozsa's final score DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID (INTRADA)

Part two will be with you soon.

Enjoy!

In today's program, I'll be playing for you some of my favourite scores that were released or that I heard in August 2022. This is a new sub-series of shows that I will be producing monthly that resurrects programs dedicated to newly released soundtracks. The last new release program I produced was in the spring of 2018.

In this program, I will review some of my favourite scores from August 2022 including LUCK (Debney), THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING (Holkenborg), DC LEAGUE OF SUPERPETS (Jablonksky), NOPE (Abels), LES VOLETS VERTS (Vercheval) and TAD THE LOST EXPLORER AND THE CURSE OF THE MUMMY (M. de la Riva)

Thanks to Cinematic Sound Radio patron, and the composer of THE ESSENTIAL SOUNDTRACKS (formerly SOUNDTRACK ALLEY) theme, Alexander Schiebel, for inspiring me to start producing new releases shows again.

Please let me know if you like this idea and what you hear on the show. Drop me a line by emailing me or send me a Tweet or look up Cinematic Sound Radio on Facebook and send me a DM. I'll only continue this program if you want me to so please let me know.
