Chronicles of the Christian Drama Queen

Lisa Schafer

As a veteran homeschool mom, radio host, adoptive parent who dealt with years of infertility and pain, and as a recovering victim of abandonment and abuse herself, author/speaker, Lisa Schafer shares her own redemption stories, and invites listeners to address painful topics, with both wit and insight. Her infectious chuckle at her own human frailties and genuine concern for her sisters-in-Christ, as well as the younger generation of women she mentors, encourages listeners to dig deeper into their fellowship with their Savior and get real with the many issues they may be avoiding. Lisa Schafer is the author of two Bible Studies on the subject of forgiveness; DISCARDED - a daughter's journey to reclaim freedom and forgive the father who left her behind, and The Christian Victim's Guide to Forgiving the Unforgivable. Both are available on Amazon. She makes it clear; she is not a counselor, pastor, licensed psychiatric professional or doctor. She encourages her listeners to seek professional help when necessary. Join Lisa as she tells the story of a lovely woman unwilling to leave her painful past behind her. The decision to hang onto and carry around our guilt and shame stops us dead in our tracks. It's like wondering why we can't "take off" in our faith while tethered to the "old man." There is no growing up! There is no moving ahead! There is no being "all that we can be!" as long as we insist on constantly taking a dead dog for a walk.

The Christian Drama Queen is just like everyone else—completely human. When someone in my "fam" is injured, humiliated, endangered, or just mistreated in some way by a server, doctor, plumber or bank teller, the Mama Bear in me has trouble keeping her opinion to herself. But having a meltdown in a small town is professional and ministerial suicide. How do you recover from making a *beep* of yourself in public? Three simple steps in this episode and in 40+ years of working in public, they've never failed me. Listen, share, rate and review.
Reminder: Reclaiming Freedom Through Forgiveness course starts in July. For more information on dealing with the bondage of bitterness, email [email protected].

Chronicles of the Christian Drama Queen - Fight the Urge to Comfort and Just Allow The Grieving to Suffer

I know it may sound completely counterintuitive to NOT comfort those who are grieving, but hear me out. In this episode, Lisa shares her own thoughts regarding the way Believers tend to step on the grief of others with more "comfort" than they can handle at that moment. Listen and see if you can relate.

As a redeemed yet broken vessel and freedom facilitator, Lisa understands the thoughts and feelings of victims so injured they can't possibly let their perpetrator/abuser off the hook. Why should they? What does God say about retribution? Paying those vile offenders back for what they've done? And what if the abuse came from someone charged with protecting the victim, like a parent of loved one? And do I HAVE to forgive...when the pain still makes me so incredibly angry?
This week, let's talk about the way God wants us to respond when we've been called upon to forgive.

Recently I've been doing a lot of grief "counseling" with women burdened by loss. And it's brought up some painful memories of my own. In this episode, I share the stories of children we fell in love with but were never allowed to parent. Aside from being heartbroken, we also had to let those babies go...knowing the situations they'd be going do might not be the safest places for them. Our hearts were engaged in every situation. What was God doing? Why were we not allowed to keep those babies? And why were we allowed to raise three others?
PS: I apologize for the space heater running in the audio...but it's cold in Kansas and minus 12 degrees means having a space heater going in the control room. Thanks for understanding, liking, sharing and reviewing anyway!

This episode is a little longer and a little different from Lisa's typical Drama Queen excursions. This week Lisa talks about her 25 years as a homeschooling mom. What led her to do it? Pros and cons alike, today we find answers, surprises and encouragement.
Interviewer, Evelyn Owens, has a podcast of her own called The Christian Homeschooler. You can see the video of this podcast on YT Here.

Chronicles of the Christian Drama Queen - What's Missing in Genesis 37? Is it an Exhibition of Faith?

As an abuse victim, I'm always scouring the scriptures for the lives and reactions of people of faith when they experience their own abuse, abandonment, pain and suffering. I was surprised to discover something rather odd in the book of Genesis, Chapter 37. Maybe you've never seen it before either.
This week I talk about the way faith exhibits itself in the midst of struggles, turmoil and suffering. See what you think!
