Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake introduces us to the Wyland car bomb, something that may or may not be illegal in 14 states, and instructs us on the special methods he employs when it is in play. Richard has fallen in love with Jazzmasters and Blake tells him I told you so in a much nicer way than if the tables were turned. This eventually turns into a conversation about Squier's 40th Anniversary range via ridiculous torque wrench pressure measurements.
Richard then tries terribly to retell the story of "Trigger's Broom" as an analogy but gets nowhere fast whist accusing Blake of reading classical greek literature and Brian purges his cache live on air. There's been some industry news from Fender with a number of layoffs changes and the guys discuss this and the ramifications for the industry and the consumer.
There have been some interesting new stats around the consumption of "New Music" versus "Old Music" and the guys dig into the implied consequences not just for music but also culture in general. This then expands on to predictions for the future of music and possible use of AI. Brian also makes a little apology before repeating himself.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 544 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Christmas Gear of the Year and Brian's last episode...until 2025
Ho Ho Ho - Merry Humbugs! 'Tis the episode before Christmas and the guys gather up some festive cheer for your ears! Brian has bought a new toy and it is ridiculous. Brian also has plans to build a new studio and as a result is going off line for two weeks so we are going to engage in a not-so-secret Santa based experiment with the podcast until we return after the holidays.
How confident are you with guitar setup? Richard took a short course and tells us all about it. He has filled a missing and potentially woolly hole in his head and he is very happy about his newfound skills and he has a ridiculous idea. He also asks some foolish questions and gets to check out a lot of very awesome guitars.
The guys then talk about their gear highlights from the past year. There is some obvious bias but also both Brian and Richard pick the same Amplifier. It wouldn't be Christmas without lights and this year they appear to be generally in the skies and mysterious - so the guys talk about their UAP experiences.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by a very special guest this week for Episode 551 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Tracii Guns tells us about his favorite pedals, plugins, and pajamas!

This week the guys are pretty stoked to have one of Brian's all-time guitar heroes on the show. Tracii Guns is a legendary LA based guitarist, super talented player, and happens to be the founding member of a couple of huge bands you may have heard of. He also has a vast amount of stories and anecdotes to recount...and they are seriously funny.
Brian drills straight into the culture of the Sunset Strip scene of the 1980s as the guys take a "behind the scenes" peek into the LA rock scene of that era. Tracii talks about some of the legendary bands he played alongside when LA Guns first made it, including Mötley Crüe, Skid Row, WASP, and a whole bunch more. Richard looks at the differences between the English and the US Music scene of that period and Tracii has some great insights and a mutual love of some classic British bands.
Blake asks about the early days of Grunge and how that changed the direction of rock and Tracii gives us a candid and hilarious take on how that played out and what it meant for the musicians of the time. Tracii then tells us how Brian helped him through an existential rig crisis and you might be surprised by the fixes they came up with.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 501 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Brian and Blake question Richard's genetics and open up discussing the spectacular 500th episode and Travis gets the blame for everything as we take a fascinating (not) look into the world of podcast production. Richard has DIY questions so Blake take a nap and Brian gives us all some tips on safety at the soldering station. He's very happy with his latest enclosure and the guys talk about different ways of making DIY labels and prints.
Blake put a post out recently and it caused a minor furore on the Internet so we dig down into the history of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock and try and figure out what makes them different. Richard tries to sell Brian on the influence of The Kinks to heavy metal and music in general and fails spectacularly. What is it that differentiates Metal from the other genres? Is it the tones or is it the riffs? The guys try and figure it out but largely go off in different tangents.
The conversation stays heavily focused on the music that we all grew up to and there are various points of interest. Richard saw the new H.E.R. Stratocaster and absolutely loves it and it is swiftly added to the list. Staying in the world of Fender, we talk about the new Eric Johnson Strat with built in overdrive, and the guys postulate over what the circuit might be...

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Blake is making content in a hotel room, and it has come to pass that Brian is now indeed a Country and Western megastar. He may deny it but he has played at the legendary Bluebird cafe in Nashville, TN and the guys cannot fail to be impressed. Some heavy names were dropped, and some food talk also occurred. It was also livestreamed on Onlyfans of Electronics, no wait, the Wampler Metaverse, no wait, I forget...Anyhow, Bri gives us a great breakdown of his gig and a little bit of history as he tells us about the amazing acts that graced the stage before him.
Eventide have brought out a rather special effects processor, the H90, and the guys cast their opinions over it and its predecessor, the mighty H9. The guys have also been checking out the new Morley analogue flyrig board and thats definitely turned a few heads. But not Ranger Brian's. Richard has also been on the Fret Talk pedalboard so tells us a bit about that and why he love analog knobs. Spray yourself immediately!
Brian has bought a new guitar and he tells us all about it despite the faux protestations from the crew - and it may surprise you. Well at least 50% of it will. It turns out the guys all have the same piece of gear and they all love it and talk about it in glowing terms. There is almost total agreement here, its a bit disturbing.

Brian, Blake and Richard are back with an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!
Happy new year to all of our listeners! The guys have been indulging in merriment and chocolate and are feeling the strain - well their waistbands are - and they discuss their gear hauls over the festive period. Brian is still having humidity related issues so Richard suggests a change of location but Brian is not keen.
Brian bought himself a new toy for Christmas and tells us all about it and all about his (non peanut butter flavored) cookies. Blake and Brian also discuss the worrying supply chain issues in the electronics industry and it isn't happy listening. Hint: Prices are not going to be going down this year in the music gear industry. It seems as if Brian has fallen into the matrix over the holiday season and Richard wants to pull him back out so he can make some more pedals.
Alexa has become dangerous and has proved we are not ready to embrace a fully AI driven life just yet. Bad Alexa. Blake has an amazing Dan Armstrong lucite guitar and the guys love it, it has some interesting technological features plus it weighs less than a baby elephant. Ooh. shiny things. I cant believe we didn't make the Transparent tone gag. The guys also got some amazing gifts from some of our listeners and are bowled over by the generosity so discuss what they got...

Brian has been burning the candle at both ends as they say as he has been working on number of new circuits. This leads the guys onto a discussion about a certain green simian themed pedal that has been literally meme'd to death. There has also been a lot of slightly dubious information circulating the interwebs about the circuit design of this particular pedal so Brian breaks it down and gives us a look at what made this pedal different.
Brent Mason is being inducted into a very prestigious event and Brian has been asked to pick out his favorite songs and it has caused his brain to melt and provokes Blake and Brian into some very bizarre a capella guitar stylings. Richard does his best to ignore and tells us a little about some playing he's been enjoying.
Finally the guys get onto Part Two of the deep dive into DAWs and Richard immediately goes down the wrong path. They guys correct him and start off by talking about miking up a guitar and recording into a DAW and Brian gives us a few choice tips on placement, phasing, and mullets. Richard lets us in on his delay secrets and also offers practical tips for not frying your cpu. In a surprising revelation we discover that Brian Wampler doesn't set the rules for the global second hand market.

Well if so you can now go and jam with official Fender instruments in a "Guitar Hero" type sub game and the guys discuss the clever marketing tactics that the big F have employed. Brian wants to put Wampler Pedals into the game. Richard has a stupid idea about guitar strings and invents the slide-o-matic neck and the guys debate whether they would ever spend $50k on a guitar.
