02 | How will reconciliation work? (w/ Thomas Isaac, Cassels, Brock & Blackwell LLP)
05/02/24 • 22 min
Earlier this spring, we got our first look at how the government intends to bring our laws in harmony with the intentions of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
The resulting “BC Land Act” was introduced in the legislature with fanfare, but landed with a thud. The headlines were brutal: no consultation. First Nations will co-manage with the government all of our crown land – 94% of the province.
Government promises private land will be protected... or will it? And how will it work?
Join Carole and guest Thomas Isaac, one of Canada’s Top 25 most influential lawyers.
