
Canes shocked by four Lightning power plays in 8-2 loss

After a dominant defensive performance in the first period, the Carolina Hurricanes were undone by a Tampa Bay Lightning power play explosion in an 8-2 loss at PNC Arena. Tampa hit the Canes with power play goals three times in a 4:20 span of the 2nd period that saw Carolina's 1-0 lead dissolve into a 2-goal defecit before 6 minutes were gone in the frame. The Hurricanes would pull one back on a Michael Bunting power play marker late in the period, but Tampa scored 5 unanswered in the 3rd period as they ran away and hid from the Hurricanes. Carolina will close out a 5-game home stand on Sunday at 5:00 against the Blue Jackets

Canes carve up Oilers on Thanksgiving eve, 6-3
The Carolina Hurricanes scored 4 times in a 5:30 span in the middle of the first period and mashed the Edmonton Oilers, 6-3, getting the Thanksgiving weekend off to a great start. The Canes got goals from Jesper Fast, Jack Drury, Teuvo Teravainen and Seth Jarvis as they roasted the Edmonton defense in the 1st period. Then Martin Necas stuffed home an early goal in the 2nd period to make it 5-1 before the tryptophan took over. Antti Raanta started, but left after one period with a lower body injury. Pyotr Kochetkov finished up and played well in relief. Carolina will try for a 3rd straight win on Friday when they host Tampa Bay.

Svech happened as Canes rally late to stun Columbus, 3-2
Andrei Svechnikov scored his first of the year in his 12th game of the season helping the Hurricanes to a 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Sunday night. Carolina and Columbus started the third period still looking for the game's first goal, but Karil Marchecnko and Johhny Gaudreau each scored -- with both goals deflecting off Carolina defenseman Brady Skjei -- to give the Blue Jackets a 2-0 lead roughly 7 minutes into the period. But, goals by Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Brady Skjei got the Canes even and Andrei took a pass from Sebastian Aho for the game-winner with 1:55 left in regulatiion. Pyotr Kochetkov won his 3rd game of the season, stopping 21 of 23 Columbus shots.
