HMS039 | How To Support Your Spouse In Tough Times
Build Your Happier Marriage
03/15/23 • 32 min
“Actions speak louder than words” ~ Abraham Lincoln.
This quote amplifies the fact that words by itself is not enough. It's words combined with actions that make the difference and in some cases, believable.
This is one of the ways to test true love ... look at the actions.
One of the most memorable bible verses is John 3:16 which says, "For God so loved the world that he GAVE (emphasis added) his only begotten son ..."
God showed his love through action; the act of giving.
One of the ways that your spouse gauges your love for them is through your actions, especially during tough times.
If you've been in a relationship for any extended period of time, you'll go through tough times,
These are times your partner needs reassurance of your love and support for them. They need to hear and see your love for them.
We need to reassure our partners with words like these: “I’m here for you, I will not leave you, I love you, and I am your shoulder to cry on”.
And Remember, every spouse needs something different that reassures them of your love.
In this episode, you will discover 5 ways to effectively support your spouse and let them feel that you care for them and that you love them through tough times.
As you listen pay attention to the one(s) that speaks to your situation and make a decision as to what you will do about it.

HMS066 | Viral Steve Harvey Divorce Rumors That Shocked the World And Lessons Learned
Build Your Happier Marriage
09/06/23 • 33 min
“Just because of what happened before doesn't mean it's automatically true now”.
What do you think of that saying?
Would you like to be only remembered by your past especially if it is one that you regret?
Unfortunately, many people use our past to make predictions for our future and also as a way to judge our present.
This is what I believe happened to Steve Harvey and his wife, Marjorie Harvey.
Both Steve and Marjorie have had complicated pasts.
They've been in different marriages, and there are allegations and rumors that have been swirling about outside relationships that make it easier for people to believe the recent rumors they've heard.
It's important to remember that we shouldn't jump to conclusions about someone based solely on their past.
In this episode, we're going to talk about five valuable lessons I believe we can learn from Steve and Marjorie Harvey’s recent allegations.
We'll also explore what we should consider in our own marriages based on what's happened. This situation serves as a clear example of why it's important not to trust everything we see or read on the internet but also what we need to do for our own marriages.

HMS047 | Learn How to Compromise with Your Spouse Without Losing Yourself
Build Your Happier Marriage
05/03/23 • 40 min
The idea of compromise often carries a negative connotation as it can be seen as giving something up.
However, in a healthy relationship, compromise is essential for both partners to feel heard and valued.
Here’s what I believe: Compromise is key to resolving and achieving common goals, resolving conflicts, and re-achieving common goals in your marriage.Compromise in a relationship is like a dance. Both partners need to move together, in sync, to create a beautiful and harmonious flow.
But what happens when one partner feels like they're constantly being led like they're losing their sense of self? This is where compromise can become a daunting task.
The very term "compromise" can bring up feelings of loss and sacrifice. The good news is that compromise doesn't have to mean giving up a part of yourself. It's all about finding a balance between your needs and the needs of your partner. In this episode, we will explore some practical tips and strategies that you can use to strike a balance between your needs and those of your partner without losing yourself. If you're ready to navigate compromise in a healthy and empowering way, let's get started!

HMP022 Meet These 3 Needs Of Your Wife and Have A Happier Marriage
Build Your Happier Marriage
11/23/22 • 27 min
Your wife wants these needs met by you!
Yes, you have needs as well but meeting the needs of your wife will have significant ROI (return on investments). Don't believe me, try these and see what happen. You'll thank me later.
In the previous podcast episode, the focus was on what it is you as a husband need most from your wife, but here we're unpacking what she needs most from you. It is important to differientiate between needs and wants which you'll hear mention in this episode.
God created your wife to basically be a support for you, but also the need for her to feel valued in what she does and who she is.
That is the general notion for a marriage to grow. But how do you know what those needs are so that you can almost be guaranteed to have a happier and healthier marriage? The obvious answer would be to ask her or even better yet, listen to her.
In this episode, you will learn the three needs of your wife that when met, will almost always guarantee a happier marriage. These are not in any particular order. You can place them in any order you want as long as you make the effort to meet them.
Please share this episode with another couple and leave a Rating and Review on the platform through which you listen to this show. If you have any questions or comments, please email us at [email protected].

BYHM119 | How to Reconnect and Strengthen Your Marriage After the Kids Leave Home
Build Your Happier Marriage
09/12/24 • 39 min
In this episode of Build Your Happier Marriage, we’re diving deep into a topic that many couples face but often struggle with—how to reconnect and strengthen your marriage after the kids have left the home. Whether you're entering the "empty nest" phase or it’s on the horizon, this transition can be both exciting and challenging. Many couples feel a mix of emotions, from relief to uncertainty, and even fear about how their marriage will change.
What We’ll Cover:
- Why the Empty Nest Phase Can Be a New Beginning
With the kids out of the house, you may find yourself wondering, “What’s next?” You’re no longer the needed parent 24/7, and the routines that kept you busy are gone. But this new season can actually be a beautiful opportunity to rediscover and strengthen the bond between you and your spouse. - The Struggles Couples Face in Reconnecting
Many couples find that without the kids, they feel a bit like strangers. You’ve spent years focusing on your children, and now it’s time to focus on each other again. But where do you even begin? We’ll walk through the common struggles couples face in this transition and how to navigate them. - Practical Tips for Rebuilding Your Relationship
From rediscovering shared interests to creating intentional time for communication, we’ll explore simple and effective strategies that can help you reconnect with your spouse during this new season. It’s all about being intentional and making each other a priority again.
Here’s what I think about you:
- You’ve been a great mom, and much of your identity has been wrapped up in parenting. Now that the kids are gone, you may be wondering, “Who am I now?”
- You’re also an incredible wife, but with the kids out of the house, you may feel some uncertainty about how your relationship with your husband will look without the distraction of kids.
- You’re longing for more connection with your spouse, but you’re not sure how to rekindle the spark or if your marriage will thrive in this new season.
Key Takeaways:
- Rediscover Your Partnership: This stage of life can be a great time to focus on each other. You have more freedom now to explore hobbies, travel, and just spend quality time together.
- Prioritize Communication: Don’t fall into the trap of thinking more time together automatically means better connection. Be intentional about checking in with your partner and understanding each other’s needs.
- Embrace Change as an Opportunity for Growth: Instead of fearing this new chapter, see it as a chance to build a deeper and more fulfilling partnership. The best is yet to come!
Scripture Reference:
- "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up." — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NIV)
Final Thoughts: This transition may feel scary, but it’s also a chance for growth. By integrating Biblical principles into your marriage, you can create a stronger, more fulfilling relationship that lasts a lifetime. Remember, it’s never too late to reconnect and reignite the love you share.
