Breaking Barriers

Breaking Barriers

Dr. Alex, Physical Therapist

This podcast is intended for parents who have a dream of having your baby become an athlete one day. I'm here to justify the need to begin as early as 2 month old. Research is strong, supporting documentation tells us that we are late by intervention at age 4. There is strong overlap between professional athletes and developmental stages. For example, latest approach to working with athletes is to identify faulty movement patterns in correlation to developmental stages which can begin as early as 3 month old. I will cover the stages based on current literature that supports the need to set the environment for success. As a proud parent of an 8 year old, I can attest to this. Life is full of challenges; let's begin at birth. My background in the fitness and physical medicine have provided me with 18 years of data gathering as a personal trainer and a clinician. After graduating with a bachelors with emphasis on Exercise Physiology, I decided to further pursue higher education by striving to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine. Meanwhile, I also became an educator for the public school system. I had a change to teach science to 6th graders, and work as a substitute teacher. Coming from a family of educators, my passion lies in educating others about topics only covered at Universities and Institutions.

In this podcast, we are going to induct and deduct a few things related to environmental (physical space requirements) needs and determine that 3 years old, a child is able to accept throwing, catching, and run.
We will allow ourselves to step back and let the child showcase his talents. While most will begin to look, you begin to perform. Coach becomes a referee. His/her job is one to showcase his talents. In other words, It is of my opinion that 3 years old is ideal age for participation of sports.

In this podcast, we will cover the boundaries of what the child considers to be his playground. If we decide to allow the child to choose 'his arena', perhaps we can have him/her tell the audience of his needs. If he uses this logic to other aspects of thinking, he will mostly likely feel that way when the space is not enough. In such case, one may run into differences leading to occasional athletes. Not proven, only discussions.

In this podcast, we identify steps most commonly missed due to inability to recognize it's importance until later ages.
This podcast will focus on the importance of upper extremity dissociation of lower extremities through trunk rotation. Trunk rotation should be isolated by the imposing muscles and not a by-product of other activities such as standing, and walking.

03/08/23 • 13 min

In this podcast, we will identify ourselves as playing a role of a designer. Completion of what takes place is associated up to acquired standing. I will choose to focus on tall kneeling for longer duration. The essence of standing is one that is completed once and only necessary after tall kneeling.
My belief is that not enough time is spent around tall kneeling. I am here to advise on it's significance. First time i've caught myself, I began to use tall kneeling to begin any related activity at the gym.
This podcast is intended for the need of promotion in the case of remaining in tall kneeling long enough to accept many objects and truly master it before moving unto standing related tasks.

Breaking Barriers - Rocking your Baby vs. Let us rock our way out.
play

03/08/23 • 9 min

This podcast is intended for the recognition of 'supervision' by adjusting ourselves to facilitate next task by inclusion of furniture at the barrier point. In other words, I question the size of the space if the first item of choice happens to be the size of my environmental context. It is of importance for the next cycle 10-15 months to have an open space including quite the 'interior design' for the upcoming challenges.

In this episode, I try to expose all data available in the topic of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. We will identify risk and management of risk by using supervision, a scheduler related to duration in certain positions. We will learn mechanisms to avoid such event from occurring.
If you are capable of accepting this point of view, and agree to establish risk-measures to minimize exposure to the condition, you are in the right place and you get to move on to our next episodes.

In this podcast, we identify the differences in thinking of a typical individual that ends up as my patient vs. the new approach that you and I will be taking on.
For example, most parents have to rely on coaches for success. What if we take control from birth so that by the time we surrender to coaches, the fundamentals will be engraved and from that point on, it turns into 'fine-tuning' which in that case, we will rely on attendance rather than beliefs or styles of playing a certain sport.
Objective:
- Compare the differences in style
- Select new style and approach
Let's become strong, mobile before engagement of an activity or participation of sort.

Breaking Barriers - Acquired Knowledge vs. Genetics
play

03/04/23 • 3 min

In this brief podcast, we become familiar with two important beliefs. One belief gives explanation to events and the other emphasizes the importance of environments as an 'arena' to practice and perfect around.
I am a believer of the environment having a greater impact than genetic make-up. I believe in this theory because over time, I have learned to recognize 'wasted talent'. This premise leads me to belief than even though there is strong evidence of genetic components, the environment is needed to practice those 'gifts'.
