Breakfast With Tiffany Show
03/28/23 • 41 min
This week we have the fabulous Maki Gingoyon, also known as ‘Queen of Cebu Philippines 2010’ who shares her fascinating careers and stories as a beautiful beauty queen, successful co-founder of her own business, and a proud trans woman engaging in trans activism to raise awareness and create inclusive spaces for the trans community. This is PART ONE of a two part piece. We dedicate this episode to the annual March 31st, International Transgender Day of Visibility in celebration of trans and non-binary people! The lively talk began with morning rituals about energies from the sun, intermittent fasting, running and marathons. Maki then shares her experience in beauty pageants, the change in attitude since the 80’s and how camaraderie between contestants seems to be decisive rather than a space to inspire and raise awareness. Maki hopes the organizers could revisit the purpose of beauty pageants.

EP 108: What Does It Feel Like To Be In The Closet? With Guest Jo Krishnakumar (PART 1)
Breakfast With Tiffany Show
08/08/22 • 39 min
For this episode our fascinating guest from London, Jo Krishnakumar shares their knowledge and research in regards to LGBTQ+ and sex workers. For those who don’t know what to expect, this may be quite an interesting listen for you.
Jo goes as they/them and is a trans Agender person. Jo reminds us that our identities are expansive and we should never feel pressured as with more information, the language we use to describe our existence changes alongside it. The conversation turns towards Pronouns, an affirming action that the LGBTQ+ movement has highlighted in recent years. It is okay being confused, but Jo reassures us to “be open to the world and the world will be open to you”.
The discussion leads to cultures, and Jo explains the “bubble” growing up with the lack of access to information that on one hand, restricted the means to express their struggles and on the other, those around them exhibited discrimination towards LGBTQ+ persons.
We move on to Jo’s coming out story as both gay and trans, where their parent were open to learn more about their identity. The message to parents is to “Trust your kids!” as you listen and ask questions instead. Lastly, Jo shares their journey from their love and curiosity behind people’s stories, which furthered their passion in researching and discovering the aspects of sociality that bridged the sex work movement that was adjacent to their queer activism. This then opened to Jo’s personal projects, “Almaarii” which translates to “steel cupboard” that reimagines the concept of the “closet” for queer people as an extensive expression outside of the English language. We discover why Jo, who teaches, has immense respect for teachers who have played a vital role in their lives and expresses the euphoria of knowing oneself, in a world that does not afford you the words.
To be continued next week!
JO KRISHNAKUMAR is a PhD Candidate of Anthropology and Sociology at SOAS, University of London. Their research is a patchwork-like and participatory ethnographic project on the intersections of documentary film, leadership, networks and the sex workers', queer and trans rights movement in South India. They are currently working as the Communications Coordinator at the National Network of Sex Workers, and on two personal projects, Almaarii and Transform with collaborators. Their interests lie in curation, activism in academia, research, advocacy, intersectionality and fighting oppressive systems together.

EP 107: T-Time Tuesdays "Homeless Community In Japan"
Breakfast With Tiffany Show
08/01/22 • 31 min
Welcome to our fourth, T-Time Tuesdays with Tiffany, alongside team member, Minami. In celebration of the 2nd Anniversary of the show, we have changed this chit chat segment from “Tea Break Time” to T-time Tuesdays as we find it more catchy! Firstly, we again want to congratulate Tiffany, her team and you our listeners for reaching the 2nd Year of the “Breakfast with Tiffany Show” podcast! From this occasion, we shared the recent special episode with Natalie Glebova and Tiffany was pleasantly surprised at the many ways she related to Natalie’s interest in spirituality and was grateful for the wisdom she brought to the episode. We also discussed Tiffany’s recent volunteering with the homeless community, from the volunteering spirit in Japan to introducing a book by Kouta Ishii, who has a chapter in his book that explains the deep relationship with homelessness and disabilities. For those interested in looking to spend their time helping with the homeless in Tokyo, Grama Seva Japan is one of the organizations that dedicate their time to this wonderful cause, and the event that Tiffany attended was held by this group of amazing activists. We also hope you will look out for our next episode that will cover sexwork and intersectionality with an exciting project the team is working on. Most importantly, as we enter summer in Japan with the rise in COVID and heatwaves, we hope everyone stays safe, hydrated and healthy. Lastly, we would love to hear from you as to what you think about the T-Time Tuesday series. What did you think of this conversation? Are there any questions you have for us? What would you like for us to cover in the future? Thank you again for your support and time.

EP 105: MILKED Documentary Film ~ "White Lies In Dairy Land" By Chris Huriwai (PART 2)
Breakfast With Tiffany Show
07/18/22 • 47 min
Kia Ora! This is Part TWO of the episode with our inspiring guest, Chris Huriwai from Aotearoa New Zealand. Tune in to find out the continuation of this fascinating conversation with Tiffany!
TRIGGER WARNING: This content may cause discomfort and upset listeners, however we believe these are still important conversations to be had nonetheless. This episode discusses animal cruelty and unethical practices behind the dairy industry.
We continue our conversation with graphic details on animal cruelty and damaging effects it causes on the land, animals, and people. The conversation expands upon water conservation with indigenous connection to the land and its vitality to small communities, the culture of information suppression of greenwashing, and the support required for small-scale farmers against larger corporate farms. Looking back on the documentary “Milked”, Chris explains how he would have liked to further cover medical science and inform us about a fertilizer mineral known as ‘Blood phosphate’ that is fueling a war in Western Sahara due to the dairy industry. In this interview, Chris encourages us to be open to learning, to self-reflect on things that upsets us, read lots of books, arm ourselves with information, learn from other non-violent passive movements, be community oriented and value social aspects with your activism. Finally, we learn that what pushes Chris is his moral obligation to mother earth, as he says “we are each other” as we act through our values over outcomes. With such inspiring words, we hope this discussion will give you motivation and a peace of mind in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming.

EP 100: "Flaws Before Fabulous!" Our 100th Episode Celebration With Guest Ms. Darlene
Breakfast With Tiffany Show
06/13/22 • 59 min
We have finally reached our 100th episode on our podcast! There is so much to celebrate for this wonderful occasion alongside pride month. Once again we would like to thank all our new and long-time listeners for staying tuned in and joining us through this amazing journey as we grow through learning from each other while spreading knowledge, authenticity, wisdom and love.
Which brings us to this week's episode where we set up a three-way discussion, as we invited our favorite recurring guest from this show, the charismatic & humorous Ms. Darlene, incompany with our podcast team mate & LGBT+ ally Minami and of course, the gorgeous & graceful host of this show, Tiffany.
We decided to have a free flowing chitchat on various intimate, inspirational, moving and fun conversations, that ranged from sharing the power of educating about LGBTQIA+, how to manage boundaries, religious stifles in relation to transgenderism, the state of LGBT+ rights around the world, Darlene’s powerful story of overcoming a traumatic episode in her life, advice to those who want to come out and much more.
Finally, as our title for this episode is written “Flaws Before Fabulous”, we hope our listeners take away our message that our “FLAWS”, be it from what we or society identifies it as, are just as much a crucial part of who we are and can be something to care for, love and enjoy. As the iconic Marilyn Monroe also stated, “If you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best!”. Perhaps learning to love our flaws can in turn evolve us into the fabulous beings that we can be.

EP 73: The Most Important Culture In Japan By Kimono Culture Expert Sheila Cliffe
Breakfast With Tiffany Show
12/07/21 • 53 min
Thank you for listening.
Here's the full 2nd episode from our Youtube show!
On this episode, we are delighted to introduce you to kimono specialist... Sheila Cliffe a Professor at Jumonji Gakuen Women's University, Japan. She has lectured at conferences, museums and events in Japan, England, Hawaii and Korea and she is one of the first non-native Japanese people to hold an official kimono dressing and teaching licence. After gaining a reputation as “the kimono lady”, and being presented on TV and in magazines as some sort of kimono expert, she decided to get a Ph.D. and become a bit more academic in her area. In 2017 she published The Social Life of Kimono with Bloomsbury Academic.
Her research centres around the kimono as a garment with a fashion history, and as an embedded fashion item. She considers herself to be not only a kimono trend hunter, but also a myth buster. She continues to research contemporary kimono, and to put her work online, in order to counteract the orientalization surrounding the kimono that continues to spread myths and false information outside Japan.
