So where do I begin? As I write this, I’m currently self-quarantined as a preventative measure for Coronavirus. In fact, we all are. Or at least, we should be. So, part one, am I right? We decided it would be fun to release our Sense and Sensibility episode in three parts. So, for the next three Sundays, stay tuned as we release your new favorite book-on-tape and lunch date with your best friends.

We've paired Sense and Sensibility with a wine that is so versatile. It pairs with everything. Like, everything! Sawtooth Winery's Classic Fly Series Chardonnay is a wine that reflects patience and technique with notes of apple and honeydew and hints of vanilla and oak. So what do you eat with a great wine that would pair well with a book that celebrates manipulating women and resentment. Oh, I know – Scones. Amelia makes her famous one-bowl scones and I take on the challenge of making clotted cream.

Bottled Classics - 1984 paired with a French 75

Episode 2. 1984. Big Brother. Ever heard of it? Yeah you have.

Whether you have an older sibling or you’re an only child, chances are you have felt that nagging feeling that someone is watching you; waiting to call you out for eating that chocolate cookies that was supposed to be for your friend's party. Yeah, ok we have all been there. The thing about 1984 is you can’t leave “there”. George Orwell writes with committed fury about the dystopian nightmare that results when people stop paying attention and lose their freedoms. It's so real that you will definitely need those chocolate cookies to help you work through some issues here. We've paired it with a French 75, a cocktail mainly comprised of champagne, gin and lemon. After the personal vendetta that 1984 had against gin, we felt a moral responsibility to remind everyone that GIN IS GOOD. Umm yes. Our featured gin is the incredible award winning, Barr Hill Gin and our bubbly is the one and only Gruet's Sauvage.

Episode 1. This is the beginning of Bottled Classics and your journey to reading socially. We are diving right in the classics pond by summarizing To Kill a Mockingbird, and pairing it with Gruet’s Blanc de Noirs. We know reading is hard...that’s why you have ears. Drink and read responsibly.

This is the second episode in a three part series. Much like any good BBC adaptation of a Jane Austen classic. We pick up where volume one ended; Elinor Dashwood meets Lucy Steele. And Lucy drops a major bomb - she is engaged to Edward Ferrars.
