Mike White became the first QB in ten years to throw for 400 yards in his first NFL start AND he led the Jets to an improbable come from behind win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Of course today’s pod is all about Mike White! Lance Kravitz returns to the pod, as we break down his historic first start, debate how long White will start, when we’ll see Zach Wilson again, and just how good Mike White could actually be (0:22). We also have a segment where we have a little fun and decide which famous person with the last name “White” will Mike White most be like?(34:10) At the end of the pod we preview Thursday Night Football where Mike White and the Jets will face off against the Indianapolis Colts and we make our Week 9 NFL Picks (43:08).

On today's pod we put the Mets 2021 season to bed and begin to look forward to 2022. Before the season, Justin and Adam had Ross Green, Alex Bigelisen and Travis Williams on the pod, and we conducted our WAR Draft, where we each selected 5 Mets as part of a contest where the person who selected the 5 players with the best cumulative WAR in 2021 would win our "WAR Games" competition. Ross Green was the winner of that contest and at the top of the pod, Justin interviews Ross as he basks in the glory of his WAR Championship(0:01). On the main part of the pod (11:40), Justin and Adam bring on Alex Bigelisen to discuss the 2021 Mets season, try to find some silver linings and hope that next year may somehow be better. Towards the end of the pod, we get frustrated talking about the Mets, and we celebrate the Jets first win of the year and make Week 5 NFL Picks (45:45).

We’re back! On today’s edition of the “Born in ‘87” podcast, we are going to do something we have wanted to do for a long time. Lance Kravitz returns to the pod for the Great Mike Maccagnan Deep Dive (1:48). The Jets have been inept for years and currently have the longest playoff drought in the NFL, if you want to find the main culprit for that, look no further than the man who was the Jets General Manager from 2015-2019. In fact, unpacking this man’s ineptitude took so long, we ended up having to split up our deep dive into two parts! Here on Part 1 of the Great Mike Maccagnan Deep Dive, we break down his roster moves from 2015-2017. If you love crapping on Mike Maccagnan, you will definitely enjoy this pod. Look out for Part 2 of the Great Mike Maccagnan Deep Dive, which will be released in a few days. On Part 2, we will cover Mike Maccagnan’s performance in 2018 and 2019. Born in '87 - Knicks Keep On Rolling with Chris Meany
play

04/29/21 • 79 min

The Knicks keep rolling and for the first time in eight years are primed to make the playoffs. If you want to hear a good discussion about everything going on with the Knicks both now, and what may happen with the Knicks this offseason, you have come to the right podcast! On today's pod, we sit back and appreciate everything going on with this Knicks team that currently sits alone in 4th place in the East, the ascent of Julius Randle, the emergence of RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, and the resurrection of Derrick Rose. We also discuss at length the players the Knicks could potentially sign or trade for this offseason that could vault the Knicks from their current standing as a top 10 team in the NBA, to a top 5 title contender, maybe as early as next season. Chris Meany joined us to talk Knicks for 80 minutes on this pod, and honestly we probably could have gone a lot longer. It feels so good to be able to talk relevant Knicks basketball again, and we think this a pod all Knicks fans will thoroughly enjoy.

If you want some rapid reactions to the dumpster fire that was this Mets opening night loss (27:20), you have come to the right place. It was a crazy Monday for our three teams, the Mets open their season with an unexpected loss, the officially failed Sam Darnold experiment comes to an end as the Jets trade Darnold to the Carolina Panthers (5:48), and the Knicks lose to the other team that plays home games in a NYC borough, the Brooklyn Nets (18:29). Here us break it all down in this emergency pod.

If you don’t want to read all that, the time stamps are also below:

With so much going on right now with our three teams, we though that on today's pod we would offer up a Smorgasbord of Mets, Jets and Knicks Talk. At the top of the pod we break down the Finals of our "Mets Worst Moment Bracket" (0:25), then discuss some of the hot button issues surrounding Mets Spring Training. Our the 2nd section of the smorgasbord, we give our thoughts on the recent Jets Free Agent signings (29:18). For the final helping, we give high praise to Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett and get excited about the Knicks (54:07).

If you don't want to read the whole blurb above, here are the time stamps for each team:

Mets (0:25)

Jets (29:18)

Knicks (54:07)

Born in '87 - Emergency Pod: Tom Brady Retires
play

02/03/22 • 37 min

The “Born in ‘87” Pod is Back! It’s an emergency pod because the man that tormented us as Jets fans for over 2 decades, Tom Brady, is finally gone (hopefully). Adam and Justin debate how much Brady truly tormented the Jets versus the Jets just being an inept franchise (0:30), and what Brady’s retirement means for the Jets and our psyches as fans. Also, with Brady and Roethlisberger now gone, it feels like an NFL leaf has been turned, and we discuss where we think Zach Wilson could potentially end up in the NFL (and particularly the AFC) QB hierarchy.
