Books From the Basement is premiering it's third season and Trixie Belden is helping to start it off right! We know you've been waiting a LONG time for another Trixie and this one won’t disappoint.
In this episode Lisa and Amy take you through the first few chapters of The Secret of the Unseen Treasure. Social Security checks have gone missing, and Trixie is on the case. The BWGs and all the regulars are present for this one. Sgt. Molinson is crabby, Dan is moody, Di is confused, Mart is annoying, Jim is in charge and Brian is stoic. Even Reddy and Patch make cameo appearances! Also, Bobby can talk! So sit back and relax while you reconnect with all your favorite folks from Sleepyside.

Aloha! In Lisa’s ender, it’s time for a traditional luau party from a new (old) party book! You'll learn a short history of the Hawaiian luau before Lisa dives into a 1958 version from Games and Fun for Parties by Sylvia Mager.

play

07/17/23 • 122 min

Lisa and Amy are back from their VERY long hiatus! This episode was recorded last October and is worth the wait! It’s the final part of Ramona and Her Mother you’ve been waiting for! Beezus wants to go to the hair salon rather than receive Mrs. Quimby’s version of a haircut. Ramona gets new pajamas and continues to deal with the angst of family stability.

In Lisa’s ender, it’s a “Club Halo de Paree” party from Any time is Party Time. Floye L. Free also calls this a “Naughty Time" Party! No need to worry, though, the party was revised for the church crowd.

Books From the Basement - The Ramona Books: Ramona the Pest (Part 2)
play

06/25/22 • 109 min

In this episode, Lisa & Amy complete their revisit of Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary. During the last half of the book, Ramona faces even more challenges as she negotiates her way through kindergarten. To her dismay, she has a rain boot crisis, is scared by her own Halloween costume and misses out on trapping the tooth fairy. As if that weren’t enough, Ramona finally gives in to her obsessive need to pull one of Susan’s boing boing curls. This impulsive act turns her into a kindergarten dropout.

In Lisa’s ender, it’s time for a surprise birthday party (maybe) with a Nature Bird theme (sort of). In Any time is Party Time, Floye L. Free provides Lisa and Amy with yet another party that requires lots of brain work and several Google searches.

Watch out Kindergarten, here comes Ramona! In this episode, Lisa & Amy start one of Lisa’s very favorite books, Ramona the Pest, by Beverly Cleary. Ramona’s starting school and she can’t wait to get there. Falling in love with her teacher, Miss Binney, is easy. Catching poor little Davy to kiss him and keeping her hands off Susan’s boing boing curls prove much more difficult.

In Lisa’s ender, it’s time for a party in the Garden of Eden. If you know someone willing to wear a fig leaf costume or pretend to be a snake, this party’s for you! This “Perfect Time” party has Lisa and Amy scratching their heads. But isn’t that true of every party Floye L. Free provides us with in her handy book Any time is Party Time?
