ZBT: VP Hopeful Tim Walz Is Getting Swift Boated By Hardliners
Bold American Pod
08/14/24 • 67 min
In a situation reminiscent of the 2004 attacks on John Kerry, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, is facing Republican criticism over his military service. The Trump campaign has questioned the accuracy of Walz’s statements about his service in the Minnesota National Guard, sparking a debate that echoes the "swift boating" attacks on Kerry’s Vietnam War record. Background: The "Swift Boating" Strategy The term "swift boating" originated from the 2004 presidential campaign when an outside group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, questioned Kerry’s military honors, including his three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. The strategy effectively undermined Kerry’s image as a war hero and raised doubts about his fitness to lead. Walz’s Military Service Timeline Tim Walz served 24 years in the Minnesota National Guard, achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major. However, he retired as a Master Sergeant for benefits purposes due to not completing certain coursework. His military service included a deployment as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, and his retirement in May 2005 has been scrutinized by Republicans, who claim he retired to avoid deployment to Iraq. Walz’s campaign refutes these claims, asserting that his service record is being mischaracterized. Political Implications Democratic strategists argue that the political landscape has evolved since 2004, and such attacks may not have the same impact in today’s media environment. The Trump campaign's attempt to revive this tactic, led by adviser Chris LaCivita, who was involved in the original "swift boating" campaign, highlights the enduring nature of military service as a political issue. Key Takeaways Tim Walz’s Military Record: Central to the Republican criticism, with claims that he misrepresented his service and retired to avoid deployment. Comparison to John Kerry: The strategy mirrors the 2004 attacks on Kerry, although the effectiveness of this approach in 2024 remains uncertain. Political Landscape: Democrats believe that the changed media environment may blunt the impact of these attacks compared to 2004. #TimWalz #MilitaryRecord #SwiftBoating #JohnKerry #2024Election #TrumpCampaign #Veterans #Democrats #Republicans #PoliticalStrategy #OperationEnduringFreedom #NationalGuard

Man SWATTED 47 TIMES!.... And Owes 50k For It
Bold American Pod
02/14/24 • 145 min
For 18 months, a teenager allegedly operated a “swatting” service out of his father’s California home, where criminals could call in a hoax bomb threat or mass shooting almost as easily as ordering a burger on UberEats. Alan Winston Filion, 17, is suspected of targeting hundreds of high schools, mosques, historically Black churches, US senators and even the US Supreme Court with swatting attacks that placed thousands of people in the crosshairs of heavily armed police response teams. Prosecutors say the 6ft 3in teenager advertised his services under the pseudonym Torswats on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, charging as little as $40 to get someone’s gas shut off, $50 for a “major police response”, and $75 for a “bomb threat/mass shooting threat”. Mr Filion would then post chilling audio of the 911 calls on Telegram as a proof of purchase, according to court documents. Among the hundreds of “swats” that Torswats allegedly claimed credit for were multiple hoax callouts at the home of Patrick S Tomlinson, a Milwaukee-based science fiction author who says he has been swatted dozens of times in the past four years as part of a targeted harassment campaign by a group of “sociopathic” stalkers. hkh Check out Barstool Sports for more: http://www.barstoolsports.com Follow Zero Blog Thirty here: Facebook: https://facebook.com/zeroblog30/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/zeroblog30 Instagram: http://instagram.com/zeroblog30

At his Rehoboth, Delaware beach house, a place of reflection and family, Biden concluded that it was time to withdraw. Despite recovering from COVID-19, concerns about his ability to lead another term had grown. The GOP united behind Trump at their Milwaukee convention, while the Democratic Party faced internal calls for Biden to step down due to lagging poll numbers. #PresidentBiden #BidenStepsAside #2024Election #DemocraticParty #BidenBeachHouse #BidenCOVIDRecovery Social Media Tags: @JoeBiden @WhiteHouse @POTUS Round 2: Where is President Biden?
