So, ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash between RB Leipzig and Liverpool, Matt Addison speaks to Karan Tejwani, the author of the excellent book Wings of Change, and the Liverpool ECHO's business of football writer Dave Powell, to get the lowdown on how Red Bull's football branch operates, what Liverpool can learn from them, and how the links between the two are only set to get even stronger.
In the future, players like Ibrahima Konate could transfer to Liverpool from RB Leipzig, while current Borussia Monchengladbach boss Marco Rose could be a contender for the Anfield manager's job once Klopp departs. And at the same time, FSG are likely to move towards a similar model in some respects, in order to get around Brexit regulations involving the transfer of young talents, and further strengthen their hand after recent interest in investment from Billy Beane, Gerry Cardinale and the RedBall Acquisitions group. In short: Liverpool's clash with RB Leipzig is just the latest link to be formed between the Reds and the soft drinks corporation. And plenty more are set to follow in the short, medium and long term.
