Blood Red: Mapping out the road to Madrid – and reminiscing about Ryan Babel

Blood Red: The Liverpool FC Podcast
We really do spoil you. It’s the second episode of our flagship Blood Red podcast in as many days – and fourth of the week. Host Joe Rimmer is joined by James Pearce, Theo Squires and Liverpool fan Dan Kay, who like our Reds reporter, has nothing but good things to say about Munich, the scene of that famous Champions League victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side. That 3-1 win has set-up a quarter-final showdown with Porto. The panel give their reaction to the draw and can’t help but look toward a possible semi-final with Manchester United or Barcelona. Who would you fancy if Porto are swept aside for a second season running? Our team, by and large, would prefer Lionel Messi and Barca, and explain why. Talk then turns to Klopp’s press conference, which took place ahead of the draw, the trip to Fulham on Sunday, and the possibility of signing Ryan Sessegnon. The relegation-doomed Cottagers have two ex-Reds in their ranks – Lazar Markovic and Ryan Babel. There’s not much to be said about the former, but that’s certainly not the case with the latter, before we get our usual line-up and score predictions, which includes a huge shout from Theo. Press Conference: Klopp update on Henderson, Keita and Oxlade Chamberlain - and how he will be judged

It may have been forgotten about already but Jurgen Klopp actually sat down in front of the media this morning - before the Champions League quarter-final a (and semi-final) draw was made. It's almost if the Liverpool manager was trying to keep thoughts firmly focused on Sunday's trip to relegation-doomed Fulham. Understandably so, too, as victory at Craven Cottage would move the Reds back to the top of the Premier League table. And as well as talking about the clash with the Cottagers, Klopp gave injury updates on Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the impact of the midweek win over Bayern Munich, the belief in the squad and what it would mean to overhaul Manchester City this weekend, the form of Sadio Mane and Joel Matip, and why only God can judge him. We'll be back later with all the reaction to the Champions League draw in the Blood Red podcast. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy

Behind Enemy Lines: A different Fulham and why Klopp would be perfect for Sessegnon

The brief is clear – win at Craven Cottage and Liverpool will go two points clear at the top of the Premier League going into the international break. And given Fulham have lost their last six and look doomed to immediate relegation back to the Championship, you wouldn’t bet against the Reds from doing just that. However, Ryan O’Donovan, who covers the Cottagers for the Football.London website, explains in this podcast why the mood has changed for the better in the Fulham fan base and squad since Claudio Ranieri was sacked. Speaking to host Paul Wheelock, Ryan also talks the approach the Cottagers will take on Sunday, former Liverpool target Jean Michael Seri and former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel, and the form and future of talented teenager Ryan Sessegnon, and why Anfield could be the perfect destination if he moves on this summer.
