In the summer of 2020, Jacob was shot seven times in the back - in front of his kids - by a white officer in Kenosha WI, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. The protests and national outrage that followed forever linked Jacob and his family to the Black Lives Matter movement, and made them instant - and prominent - figures in the ongoing struggle for racial justice.
