Greetings, and welcome to The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week, the podcast companion to The End, the weekly newsletter that shines a light back on audio fiction shows after they've reached the finale of a season or the conclusion of the series. I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra.
Let’s get into it, shall we?
Last Week
The most recent issue of The End—the 54th—highlighted 6 shows in the Season Finales & Finished Series section, and 3 of them wrapped in the last few days.
- 🏚👻🥬 • Unwell, a Midwestern Gothic Mystery, a dramatized gothic mystery from HartLife NFP, posted the final episode of their epic 5 season journey yesterday, Sept 13th. Plan on almost 30 hours of entertainment as you listen to all 60 episodes.
- 👵🏼 🦸 ⏳ • Am I Old Yet?, a dramatised slice of life comedy from Flloyd Kennedy & Thunder's Mouth Theatre, has posted the 8th season finale on Sept 8th. So far, there are 97 episodes, or just under 20 hours, of content created, produced and mostly performed by an old woman, with an old woman as the central protagonist. Flying the banner for anti-ageism!)
- 🏥🌀🤖 • Nightingale, a dramatized scifi mystery from Gen-Z Media, posted the Season 1 finale on Sept 7th. It features the stories of kids with cancer, we've received great support from youth cancer advocates, and you’ll need 5 and a half hours to listen to these first 12 episodes
- Listen to the end of this audio file to hear trailers or episode snippets from these recently finale’d and complete shows.
This Week
With every issue, I make two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV.
- 🧑🚀🛰️🔍 • My first recommendation is for The Deca Tapes, a dramatized scifi mystery tale from Lex Noteboom. I’ve featured this one before in an early issue of The End, so I’m bringing it back for all the new folks. It's like the best episode of the Twilight Zone, but for your ears. You'll be kept guessing all the way! Here’s the trailer. [trailer plays] The deca Tapes is a complete story. Take the 4 and a half hours to listen to all 8 episodes. You won’t be disappointed.
- ✈️😵💫🕧 • My second recommendation is Passenger List, a dramatized thriller from Passenger List & Radiotopia. Another early feature I feel deserves another run, because it’s such a great story! Even though "found footage" isn't normally my jam, this show uses it well. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] Passenger List is a complete story, with 16 episodes across 2 seasons, for just over 9 hours of thrilling entertainment.
Next Week
The latest issue of The End has 11 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section—11? Ok, this is getting crazy, but in a good way—and two of them start releasing episodes in just a few days:
- Season 2 of Mansfield Mysteries, a dramatized comedy mystery from The QuaranTeam Group, starts on Sept 15. Get caught up on Season 1 in 3 and a half hours. 🍸🔪🔎
- Season 2 of Project Pulse, a dramatized cyberpunk from Eyes Shut Studio, also starts on Sept 15. Catch up with Season 1 before that in about 2 hours. ⚔️🎮♿️
- Trailers or snippets for those two are coming your way right after I say...
And that’s all for this...

Last Week
The most recent issue of The End—the 53rd—highlighted 5 shows in the Season Finales & Finished Series section, and 3 of them wrapped in the last few days.
- 🚀 🥜 ⚙️ • Omega Star 7, a dramatized comedy scifi series from Team Omega Star, posted the finale of their 4th season on Sept 5th. You’ll need about 28 hours to listen to the 57 episodes of these 4 seasons. Season 5 is to start in January.
- 🔪👹🥃 • Scott Sigler Slices: SLAY, a narrated scifi horror series from Empty Set Entertainment & Realm, posted the season 1 finale on Sept 2nd. There are 35 episodes for about 17 and half hour of horror goodness. Season 2 is slated for April of next year.
- 🖤🦇🌹 • After the Gloaming, a dramatized gothic horror series from Dissonance Media & The Other Stories, posted the season 1 finale also on Sept 2nd. Five and a half hours is what you need to listen to the 9 episodes of the season, with Season 2 slated for the first of the year.
- Listen to the end of this audio file to hear trailers or episode snippets from these recently finale’d shows.
This Week
With every issue, I make two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV.
- 🦹🎱⚡ • My first recommendation is for The Bright Sessions, a dramatized metahuman series from Lauren Shippen & Atypical Artists. There are a few shows that can claim to have shaped modern audio fiction, and this is one of them. Excellent writing, heartfelt acting, and a just-right soundscape make for a near-perfect combination. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] The Bright Sessions is fully complete, spanning 7 seasons with 115 episodes for about 47h of entertainment.
- 🐕♻️👁️ • My second recommendation is for The Dog Is Dead, a narrated multigenre anthology from podcastgod. I first consumed this show during a road trip a couple of year ago, and it kept my attention from the dreary desert. Each episode has a totally different feel, but—if you're paying attention—you'll notice the threads. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] The Dog is Dead is a complete series with a single season. You’ll need about 4 hours to listen to the 15 episodes.
Next Week
The latest issue of The End has 10 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section—10? Wowzers I guess I should get used to this—but none of them begin releasing episodes of their next seasons in just a few days. So I’ll take a moment for two updates:
The first is that a brand new website and newsletter are coming. I’m moderately confident it won’t happen in time for next week’s issue or episode, but the following week looks much better. I’ll let you know when it’s released.
The final has to do with the realities of cost associated with that upgrade. Yes, I’m once again asking you—if you can—to consider supporting The End with a teeny-tiny contribution. Details at TheEnd.fyi/support.
- Trailers or snippets for are coming right after I say...
And that’s all for this episode of The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week. For these and the other audio fiction shows featured, highlighted, and coming soon that were included in the 53th issue of The End, including links to listen to the shows mentioned in this episode, please visit

- 🔮 🀧 ♥️ • IN THE CARDS, a dramatized existential romantic comedy from Kevin Henderson & Next Chapter Podcasts, posted the conclusion to the entire series... yesterday, Sept 20th. Listen to hear characters voiced by stars from Guardians of the Galaxy 4, The Walking Dead, and the hit podcast Dead Eyes. You can listen to all 8 episodes in about 4 and a half hours.
- 👽🕴️🚀 • Serving Worlds: Enemy Lines, a narrated alien invasion conspiracy thriller from John Mierau, posted the conclusion of the story on Sept 15th. Listen to akk 45 episodes of this complete story in just over 18 and a half hours.
- 🕰️📞🌟 • The Dial-Up, a dramatized sci-fi comedy from Philip Catherwood, posted the season 2 finale on Sept 14th. Enjoy all 9 episodes of the first 2 seasons in under 2 hours. Season 3 is in progress.

This Week
With every issue, I make two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV.
- 🇺🇸🏳️🌈🏃♂️ • My first recommendation is Gay Future, a dramatized comedy series from Gay Future Productions. I love absurd comedies, and this one is more absurd than most. Bonus: It's well-produced. And did I mention absurd? Get a taste of that in the trailer. [trailer plays] Gay Future is a complete story with 6 episodes, providing just over three and a half hours of fun, regardless of your persuasion.
- ✈🔬👩📻 • My second recommendation is Mirrors, a dramatized scifi ghost story from ZoomDoom Stories. This is a masterful twist on the "recording" trope so often used in audio fiction, modified to match the technology of each century represented. And the take on ghosts... I just love this! The teaser for the series will help you understand why. [trailer plays] Mirrors is a complete story with 3 seasons and 24 episodes, for almost 10 hours of excellent audio storytelling.
Next Week
The latest issue of The End has 14 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section which is entirely to many to keep up with but we live here now. And 4 of them start releasing episodes in just a few days:

- Season 7 of Mumbai Crime, a dramatized crime story from Ayeesha Menon & Goldhawk Productions, starts on Sept 25. Each season is stand-alone, but if you want to binge the first four seasons, you’ll need 11 hours to do so. 👮♀️🙀🫣
- Season 2 of Shadow ...
