[1:00] Thank you to Chef Laurie Gauguin and [1:57] Sandy from Sarasota for the spectacular reviews!

[2:49] Mercury trines Jupiter on Sep. 25 (5:10 AM PDT) at 14o51’ Virgo-Taurus. The first two in this series of trines were on August 9 and Sep. 4. Mercury is on 15 Virgo, An ornamental handkerchief, and Jupiter is on 15 Taurus, A man muffled up with a rakish silk hat. Nail down the practicalities, then add some flair.

[5:06] Moon Report! The Aries Full Moon is on Sep. 29 (2:57 AM PDT) at 06°00’ Aries. This Full Moon highlights the balance between Libra, which tends to take others into account before acting, and Aries, which symbolizes putting ourselves first.

[6:08] Mars, the planet that rules Aries, is currently in Libra, so we can assert ourselves as needed while still being reasonably civilized and polite.

[6:38] This is the Full Moon in a lunar phase family cycle that began at the March 31, 2022 Aries New Moon. The First Quarter in this cycle was on Dec. 29, 2022, the Last Quarter is on June 28, 2024.

[7:54] Void-of-Course (VOC) Moon Periods. On Sep. 26, the Moon in Aquarius squares Uranus (5:38 AM PDT). It's VOC for a little under 12 hours before entering Pisces (5:18 PM PDT). Which do you need more of in your life - Saturn, with its rules and boundaries, or Uranus, which needs more freedom and independence?

[9:10] On Sep. 28, the Moon in Pisces sextiles Pluto (1:57 PM PDT). It's VOC for about 3 1⁄4 hours before it enters Aries (5:17 PM PDT). The sextile to Pluto from the Moon in Pisces signals a VOC period when we break habits of procrastination and practice exerting focus on a particular objective.

[10:18] On Sep. 30, the Moon in Aries squares Pluto (2:49 PM PDT). It's VOC for about 3 1⁄2 hours before it enters Taurus (6:18 PM PDT). This VOC Moon period is a time to retrace our steps, finish up what we missed, and hopefully bear all of this in mind the next time we let ourselves race ahead without taking a close look at what we're doing.

[11:15] Venus makes the last in a series of squares Uranus on Sep. 29 (10:52 AM PDT) at 22o40’ Leo-Taurus. The first aspect in the series was on July 2, and the second one was on Aug. 9. This aspect highlights themes of togetherness and independence. It can also signify sudden financial windfalls or unexpected expenses.

[12:57] Mercury trines Uranus on Sep. 30 (9:55 AM PDT) at 22o38’ Virgo-Taurus. Mercury is on the Sabian symbol 23 Virgo, An animal trainer, and Uranus is on 23 Taurus, A jewelry shop. It's time to train our minds in order to achieve inspiration and breakthroughs.

[15:33] Listener L.H. asks about the most accurate location to set one’s solar return chart.

[23:02] If you’d like to have your question answered on a future episode, leave a message of one minute or less at speakpipe.com/bigskyastrologypodcast or email april(at)bigskyastrology(dot)com; put “Podcast Question” in the subject line.

[6:27] Moon Report! The Last Quarter Mercury-ruled, Gemini Moon (3:21 PM PDT) is at 14o03’ Gemini on the Sabian symbol 15 Gemini, Two Dutch children talking. Just a heads up, as the Moon squares Mercury today (1:45 PM PDT), feelings may not match up with words.

[7:35] Tuneful greetings from Listener Emily!

[8:20] The name Wednesday is derived from “Wodensday”, a nod to the Norse God Odin, which was called Woden in old English. Woden and Mercury shared association with communication, knowledge, and travel, and eventually referred to the same day of the week. Since Mercury is associated with manual and mental dexterity, mend clothing, study, communicate, and run neighborhood errands.

[10:44] A closer look at the Lunar Phase Family Cycles. Let’s give a Big Sky Astrology shout out to Celeste Brooks of Astrology by Celeste, who tipped April off to these cycles. Check out their interview on Episode 141. Dietrich Pessin’s book is a fine resource on these cycles as well.

[1:28] Moon Report! The Virgo First Quarter Moon occurs June 2 (8:41 PM PDT) at 12°50’ Virgo and Gemini. It's time to initiate action on intentions from the Gemini New Moon on May 26. The Moon’s Sabian symbol is 13 Virgo, A strong hand supplanting political hysteria. The Sun’s Sabian symbol is 13 Gemini, A great musician at his piano.

[3:45] This is the First Quarter (first action point) in a Lunar Phase Family Cycle (LPFC) that began with a New Moon on Sep. 2, 2024, at 11°04’ Virgo. The Full Moon (awareness point) of this LPFC is on March 3, 2026 (12°53’ Virgo), and the Last Quarter Moon (last action point) is on Nov 30, 2026 (9°03’ Virgo).

[5:07] Void-of-Course (VOC) Moon Periods. On June 4 (4:11 AM PDT) the Moon in Virgo squares Jupiter in Gemini. It's VOC for 2 hours 27 minutes, then enters Libra (6:38 am PDT). Be mindful with your words, be kind, avoid oversharing and gossip.

2:13 – Mars trines powerful Pluto (Feb. 24), in a cycle that began on March 22, 2020 and made three critical squares on Aug. 13, Oct. 9, and Dec. 23, 2020. If you have earth sign planets near 26 degrees, this trine can bring your work to the attention of powerful or influential people. But Mars and Pluto can also unite for nefarious purposes, and if you have planets near 26 degrees of fixed or cardinal signs, you may need to keep an eye out for comic book villains. (Here’s April’s book on Oprah Magazine’s list of the best astrology books!)

.

05:57 – Venus sashays (fancy!) into Pisces on Feb. 25 (through March 21), and it’s time to give ourselves over to the muses: music, dance, poetry, and literature. We think of Pisces time as the time to just let our minds go, but we must remember the past lest we be doomed to repeat it. While Venus is in Pisces, use aesthetics - the enjoyment of the senses - to fight Neptune’s tendency toward anesthetic and lethargy! Seek new pleasure in a spiritual practice.

.

11:11 – Faster-moving planets entering Pisces are activating a new house of your chart in advance of Jupiter’s ingress into this sign in May. Here’s a blog post to help you find the Pisces house of your chart.

.

13:13 – Sun sextiles Uranus (Feb. 25, 1:13 pm PST) at 7.29 Pisces/Taurus. We discussed the 60-degree opportunity aspect in Episode 16, Let’s Talk About Sextiles. Letting ourselves be noticed will bring unexpected opportunities, which is fun, although we may not be ready for all of them (Sabian symbol for Taurus: a sleigh without snow).

.

15:01 – Jupiter trines the North Node on Feb. 26, 2:57 pm PST. Jupiter, one of the societal planets, in revolutionary Aquarius shakes us free of our conventions so that we can pursue new ideas and experiences with a truly open mind. Jupiter’s Sabian symbol, “A watchdog standing guard,” suggests that we need a true and just sense of what’s valuable or we can get overwhelmed with a multitude of details and pieces of information. Jupiter’s assistance fulfills the North Node’s Sabian symbol, “The head of a robust youth changes into that of a mature thinker.”

.

18:21 – This week’s Moonwatch segment is brought to you by our new non-imaginary sponsor: Tenth House Creative! Note that starting Feb. 23, 2020, they are offering a special course, “

A tired, post-election April & Jen discuss this week’s planetary hubbub: A final (at last!) Sagittarius is a teaching sign, so in that spirit April and Jen offer a mini-lesson on out-of-sign aspects! What are they, why do they happen, and what’s an “orb”? 00:30 – In real time, it’s the Monday after the US election, and April and Jen take a little time to discuss how current affairs line up with what’s happening in the skies. (To hear more about the US Pluto return, revisit Episode 29, Neptune Washing Over All, and the US Pluto Return.) And, can you see someone’s soul in the birth chart? Things get deep, which seems appropriate for Scorpio season!

.

07:05 – Mercury opposes Uranus in Taurus (Nov. 17), which might indicate an unexpected change in perspective, innovative thinking, or problems with electronics. This is the third and final face-off; to hear about the previous ones, listen to Episode 50, The Grand Cross: Wheel! Of! Fortune! (from Oct. 17) and/or Episode 52, A Scorpio Season of Long Shadows & Fellowship (Oct. 19). This is the midway point of a cycle that began April 30 with the conjunction (Episode 23, Talkin’ Taurus and the Void (Of Course!) Moon).

.

09:06 – The Sun sextiles Saturn (Nov. 18/19) at 28 Scorpio, “The king of the fairies approaching his domain.” The planet of structure is on 28 Capricorn, “A large aviary.” Act with confidence, and perhaps you’ll receive offers that could increase your status. (Click here to see April’s collage based on this Sabian symbol!)

.

12:52 – Venus is at third base (27°25’ Libra), squaring Saturn at home plate in Capricorn (Nov. 19). If you’ve been working hard to bring good stuff into your life, perhaps Saturn will reward you – he likes hard work! (We hope Coach Taylor is our third-base coach!) This aspect has been building ever since Venus entered Libra on Oct. 27, so if things have felt difficult for you since then, they just might get easier! This is the closing square in a conjunction that began back on Dec. 11 (Episode 3, Gemini Full Moon: Alexa, Play "Love the One You're With"). Venus is on the Sabian symbol “A man in the midst of brightening influences.” Sounds nice!

.

15:55 – The Sun enters Sagittarius on Nov. 21 (to stay through Dec. 21) bringing a season of journeys, cultural exploration, higher education, gratitude, and generosity. And Venus enters Scorpio the same day, bringing the possibility of deepening relationships and finding out more about who is trustworthy.

.

21:34 – ** MOONWATCH! ** This week’s intuitive First Quarter Moon (FQM) occurs at 00°20’ Pisces (Nov 21). It’s a time to take action related to the New Moon that began last week. The Moon makes a lovely trine to Venus and a sextile Uranus. (Refer to Episode 15, Venus + Pie: 0-29 Degrees of Separation to hear more about planets at 0 degrees of a sign.)

.

24:27 – In this FQM chart, the Sun is in an out-of-sign sextile to Saturn. How do we interpret a planet connecting to another planet when it is “out-of-sign,” and how do orbs figure in? A mini-lesson for you! In this case, the Sun has moved past the point where the “exact” connection was made with Saturn, but they’re still being super friendly and waving... or maybe the Sun has a piece toilet paper lingering on his shoe? 02:55 – April finally accepts that someday she’ll move to Minneapolis. 😊 [“Can you tell Jen wrote the show notes?” ~ April]

03:41 – What does Mars mean astrologically? This week, he moves into Sagittarius, and like an ice cream sundae, gets a big plop of Jupiter chocolate sauce on his head.

05:18 – A nutshell of fixed signs: April’s Leo planets and Jen’s Scorpio planets are all, “I’m not stubborn, you’re stubborn!”

10:20 – Mars rules the noggin, so it’s appropriate to say: Head’s up! He’ll be retrograde this fall.

11:22 – The First Quarter Moon happens in action-oriented Aries, but a thundering herd of planets in Capricorn admonishes us not to run with scissors. Killjoys.

15:26 – Yep, April and Jen set you up for the gimungous Saturn/Pluto conjunction next week! You’re welcome.

18:30 – April shares the colors of Saturn and Pluto, while Jen misremembers the name of a 1970s Poison Control Center image.

21:20 – The North Node in Cancer reminds us to be inclusive. It’s a Big Sky, and there’s room for everyone!

00:30 – Someone’s under the weather this week, but the podcast must go on! Is it Deep Throat? Brenda Vaccaro? Or did someone just have too many good cups of coffee?

.

02:07 – ** MOONWATCH! ** It’s a Last Quarter Moon at 16.22 Virgo on a date that will live in infamy (Dec. 7). The Moon is on the Sabian symbol, “A volcano in eruption.” And the Sun sits on 17 Sagittarius, “An Easter sunrise service.” Virgo, an earth sign, can be surprisingly volatile when angry; some say the sign is associated with Vulcan, the Roman god of fire. The symbols taken together indicate something new that’s born of disaster and calamity. (Take note: This triggers the June 5, 2020 Lunar Eclipse point. Listen to Episode 28, Eclipses and Nodes: Why be Mean when you can be True? for more on that.)

.

07:15 – The Sun at 18.11 Sagittarius squares Neptune in Pisces (Dec. 9), which speaks to a crisis of self-confidence and sense of purpose. How confident do you feel in who you are?

.

08:49 – Four days later, Mercury follows in the Sun’s footsteps to square Neptune on the same degrees (Dec. 13). In this square, the cosmic messenger struggles to define the self. Have you been floundering with how to tell your story?

.

09:44 – Mercury goes out of bounds (Dec. 12 – Jan. 4), all unsupervised and breaking the rules. If someone goes on a rant during this time, maybe just ignore them if you can! And, it might be helpful to think carefully before you speak! On the plus side, this is a good time to do innovative thinking. (To hear more about out-of-bounds planets – and to hear Jen’s lovely parents – listen to Episode 22, Taurus New Moon and Venus Gone Wild.)

.

12:23 – For the Neptune square, the Sun and Mercury occupy 19 Sagittarius, “Pelicans moving their habitat.” And the god of the sea has been on 19 Pisces for the past 2 weeks, on “A master instructing his pupil.” It’s time to let go of the parts of the story that no longer serve us, as we still learn from Neptune, who tells us what those parts are. What needs releasing? Maybe the Buddhist concept of non-attachment could be helpful as you examine your inner narrative.

.

14:29 – Venus, at 23.31 Scorpio, sextiles Pluto in Capricorn (Dec. 10), offering an opportunity to attract power to oneself. Venus is on the symbol “Crowds coming down the mountain to listen to one man,” which was also the degree of the recent Scorpio New Moon! Is a wish we made then going to be granted? (To hear more, scurry on over to Episode 55, Scorpio New Moon: Rolling in It!)

.

16:32 – The Sun trines Mars at 19.39 Aries (Dec. 10), and then moves on to align with the South Node (Dec. 11) at 19.56 Sag – which sets us up for the Solar Eclipse that arrives on Dec. 14! Change may be incoming to help us let go of things! We are leaving one journey beh...
