Big Dreams. Bold Moves. - A Family Immersion Year in Genoa, Italy
play

01/16/20 • 38 min

In this episode we are speaking with Jacqueline Jannotta, author of Let’s Leave the Country! A Guide to Your Family Year Abroad, which is the book she wished she’d had when embarking on her family’s yearlong adventure abroad.

Her burning desire to experience life in Italy led her and her husband to rearrange their lives, put their daughters in a local public elementary school in Genoa, and have one of the most challenging (and fun!) years of their lives.

The experience was so powerful, she wrote a guide for others, particularly those who might be intimidated by the idea, on how to create their own version of a life-changing adventure beyond the border.

Push play to hear how they funded their immersion year, got visas, found accommodation, organized schools and more!

Australia!!! Sunshine, gorgeous beaches, friendly people, English speaking...what’s not to love about this land down under?!...(I so know you are thinking about snakes and sharks right now!)

But what is actually far scarier, or at least far more intimidating, is actually getting a visa to live down under. That might not have been the case a few years ago, but times have been a changing. If you want to get a better understanding of what your Australian visa options are currently, this is the episode for you.

In this episode, we speak with Julie Williams, a Principle Migration Agent and the founder of Migration Down Under. She explains recent migration policy changes and current visa trends. We discuss the difference between the employer sponsored visas versus the skilled migrant visas, and Julie walks us through the application process for a skilled migrant visa. We also discuss the points system, state sponsored visas, the skills shortages lists, typical application timelines and so much more. Julie even answers my question about whether it is easier to get a visa in Australia or New Zealand.
