Out of Ur God calls a man named Abram to follow Him to a new land and a new blessing. Abram, his wife Sarai, and his nephew Lot obey and follow God into the land of Cannan. However, famine in the land drives them to Egypt, and Abram, fearing for his life devises a plan to trick the Egyptians into thinking his wife is really his sister so that they will not kill him. In an attempt to take Judah, he also made war against Joab, the nephew of David and commander of his army. But he was outmatched. And though he killed one of Joab’s brothers, Joab still gave his army mercy when he called off the battle.

The Philistines noticed that his only weakness was his lustfulness, so they hired a beautiful woman named Delilah to seduce him into revealing the secret of his strength. After being lied to by Samson on three occasions, he finally caved in and gave her the truth. Teaching us that we should be careful not to flirt with sin or abuse the favor God has given us, otherwise, like Samson, we may make a choice we deeply regret.
