#60 Why We Seek Validation & How to Stop
Better Than Before Breast Cancer with The Breast Cancer Recovery Coach
10/22/19 • 23 min
When you listen, really listen to the words of other survivors you'll hear it...the plea to be heard, the need to be understood, the desire for others to know and understand that we didn't ask for this, and we're doing everything we can to change it and take care of ourselves.
We often find ourselves justifying our diet and behaviors or being diagnosed with new issues that we know were caused by treatment, even though it seems like no one else gets that.
Why is it so important to be heard?
Why do we need others to understand what we're going through, and how can we turn the table and be comfortable with that knowledge within ourselves?
That's what you'll hear about in this week's show.
You'll get a better understanding of what validation means to us but, more importantly, you'll learn an exercise to help you get to the root of your need for validation so you can move into a place of being comfortable with your own truth.

Better Than Before Breast Cancer with The Breast Cancer Recovery Coach
09/09/19 • 23 min
Relationships...they can bring a ton of joy into your life, and they can cause some of the most intense pain.
When the going gets tough, as in a cancer diagnosis, sometimes we're surprised at who we can really count on and who disappears.
And if a relationship is already fractured, a tough emotional situation can be the last straw.
Could it be that relationships all have a purpose, or a season, or that all things good or bad really do happen for a reason?
In this episode I'll share my favorite perspective on relationships from an inspirational teacher and motivator, Lisa Nicols.
Her unique insights on relationships have helped me gain perspective and let go of some of the guilt and sadness that comes with changes or ends to relationships.
These ideas expand way beyond romantic relationships and can be applied to business partners, friends, colleagues, even neighbors. As a survivor, you know that going through cancer has a big impact on the relationships in your life, and that your own expectations of relationships can shift.
Listen in for some knowledge nuggets that might help you with the relationships in your life.

The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer can lead to a powerful disconnect from the body.

Sadly, when we lose connection with our bodies, there’s no way we can care for them in the ways necessary to support healing.
We lose sight of the magical interplay of our biology and how every part of our system has an important role and how strong and vital our connection to nature is.
Over recent decades this has led to a frightening reduction in the healthy biodiversity of the human gut.
