He graduated from Ardmore High School in 1974, Murray State College in 1976, and Oklahoma State University in 1979. His career spanned from 1984 to 2011 with Farmers Insurance Group/Zurich Financial, where he held various positions in Claims, Marketing, Distribution Management, Legislative-Regulatory Affairs, Media, Compliance, Risk Management, and Executive Administration. He recently retired as a Senior Vice President.
Throughout his career, he moved 10 times, living in Texas, Oklahoma, and California, and worked both nationally and internationally. He has served on several boards, including holding the position of Chairman, with notable examples being the Personal Insurance Federation of California and the Insurance Guarantee Fund of California.
After spending 10 years in Thousand Oaks, California, he and his wife returned to Texas.
