Belated Binge: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ ’Breaking Bad’ ‘Harry Potter’

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Chamber of Secrets.

I was joined by Sarah from First Years: A Harry Potter Podcast for adult first time readers of the series and we had a blast with this one, making history. The first repeat guest on the podcast!

It's the title chapter of the book, so it must be important! Harry manipulates he and Ron's way to the hospital wing where an unconscious Hermione hands over all the plot convenience needed for Harry to figure out the mystery of the book.

Armed with the knowledge of the Basalisk, the pipes, his recent brain blast of Moaning Myrtle being the girl who was killed 50 years ago, He and Ron are about to tell Professor McGonogall everything. But, they instead hide in a closet and overhear that Ginny Weasley has been taken to the Chamber by the Heir of Slytherin.

Instead of informing the professors of what they've discovered as intended, they later go to find Lockhart who proves to be too incompetent to best a couple of 12 year olds at magic. Again, instead of doing the logical thing, they decide to go hunting for the Chamber of Secrets with a hostage.

After a trip down the grossest water slide in history, Lockhart tries to obliviate 2 children, but uses Ron's broken wand and explodes the tunnel instead. Separated from the others, Harry goes on to find the entrance to the Chamber and save the day...

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, Halloween and Quidditch

Harry and Ron become Sherlock Holmes and Watson and this chapter has the iconic movie scene turned viral internet meme "It's LeviOsa not LeviosA" or however you spell it. While Hermione looks very smart and talented, it doesn't make Ron feel very good to be shown up by his Charms partner. His reaction was... not great. He says some mean things about Hermione, leading her to spend the rest of the day in the girls bathroom, crying.

At the Halloween feast, Quirrelldemort pulls his troll nonsense, which is a plot line I touch on thoroughly and sparked this week's bonus episode "Trolling Dumbledore" which is available to Free Elf Patrons and above (https://www.patreon.com/BelatedBinge). We then get a TON of action with Harry and Ron saving Hermione from the troll with a well placed wand up the nose and a successful pronunciation from Ron dropping a club on the troll's head. This naturally forms our Golden Trio (finally). Quidditch was highlighted by Harry nearly plummeting to his death from a broomstick, which becomes bit of a theme in these books... This time of course, it was Quirrell trying to kill him. Oh, and Hermione catches Snape ON FIRE!!!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, The Journey to Platform 9 3/4 & The Sorting Hat

On The Journey to Platform 9 3/4, we meet the Weasleys! Sparking the inspiration for this week's exclusive bonus episode "MI7 Kids" about Molly Weasley and her role in Dumbledore's master plan. This is available for Free Elf Patrons and above (https://www.patreon.com/BelatedBinge).

The introduction to the Weasleys is quite the saving grace for Harry after the Dursleys leave him alone at Kings Cross train station to be kidnapped by anyone while he tries to figure out where Platform 9 3/4 is. It also begins the single most important friendship of Harry's life (Ron Weasley of course), which I defend in this episode. They nearly throw down with Malfoy and his goons on the Hogwarts Express before meeting the future 3rd member of the golden trio Hermione Granger.

In The Sorting Hat, all 3 of our main characters get sorted into Gryffindor. I'll put a focus on Ron as a character, foreshadow what's to come, theorize about what would happen without the Harry & Ron train ride (possible Draco Malfoy friendship??), and of course give away episode awards!
