So why is it that women have such anxiety over controlling and changing the shape of our bodies?

In this episode we discuss the shifting ideal body types in history and address the dangerous and lingering effects they have on our culture.

The ladylike thing to do? Push back against the idea of a single, idealized, beautiful body type. Foster body positivity and embrace diversity. Recover from the disordered eating habits and anxiety that might have become a normal part of your life. You have to love your body as it is in order to care for it in the way that brings about healthy change. You deserve to take up space and to grow and to be anything but “small”.

Content Warning:

The content and discussion in this episode will necessarily engage with eating disorders, self harm, and body hatred. Although the end-goal of this podcast is to create a safe space and to push back against negative issues with positivity, this episode includes potentially emotionally challenging or triggering content.

Ladies tend to bear the Mental load known as the “worry work” when it comes to household management. This accounts for stress gaps between men and women, work-family conflicts, and conflict between partners. In this episode, Jen and Sav discuss how the inequity of the mental burden in the home affects women and examine the actions that men and women could take to promote equity in the home.

Welcome back to Because I’m a Lady That’s Why, a podcast about responding to anti-femme issues in a ladylike fashion.

In today’s episode, I would like to discuss the red flags that indicate an abuser in relationships. No two relationships are the same, but there are patterns that appear in abusive relationships. It can take years and years to see abuse for what it is.

This was a difficult episode to record. It was emotional, but it is imperative that those who recognize that they are being abused seek help. Here are some valuable resources:

On today's inaugural episode, we’ll be looking at a topic that affects all women: Finances. We’ll be discussing the Pink Tax, The Wage gap, and the way society pushes for women to consume more while making less. Why do we fall for the trends and marketing ploys so often, and what is a classy response to this unladylike pressure to buy more while earning less?

I will be discussing the importance of breast cancer awareness. This is part two in a series discussing modesty culture and women’s health. Breast cancer is the second biggest killer of women (second to lung cancer). Early detection and awareness are the best defense, but many young women are ignoring the steps they should take to monitor their own health. My guest today is Amanda Tamaccio, a talented, little bombshell of a lady who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. In a year’s time, her whole life has changed. I asked to interview her in today’s episode so that listeners may hear about how important breast cancer awareness is from someone who knows better than I.
