Beauty is not limited by your past! Overcoming your past and live your BEST Life with Nadia Sahari
Beauty Call Podcast
10/14/19 • 50 min
As a child, Nadia Sahari was abused by her immigrant family. Then she married an abuser. But Nadia had big dreams no one could kill. Nadia has been a successful entrepreneur and belly dancer and today she is an actress, author, radio host, producer, and entrepreneur.
Nadia's Story:
Breakaway: The Road To Freedom“ is Nadia Sahari'sremarkable true story of obstacles she overcame to become a success. Nadia was born in Lebanon. She immigrated with her parents to the United States at age two and grew up in the Detroit area. Besides being sexually abused at age five by her grandfather, she was repeatedly beaten by her father as a means to keep her from assimilating into the American culture. Her father feared if she associated with Americans she would lose her virginity; she was more valuable as a virgin so she could marry an Arab.
Nadia refused to conform to her parents' rigid standards. At the age of seventeen, she was date raped and forced into an illegal abortion that nearly took her life. Desperate, she married a man who told her he loved her so much he would kill himself if he could not be with her. Without money, security, or a job, Nadia thought marriage would be her safety net. Little did she know she was going from Hell into Hades. Her husband repeatedly abused her. When she wouldn't give him money to buy alcohol, he tossed out her children's food and said, "If I can't have my beer, they can't eat. Refusing to see her children mistreated, Nadia threw him out.
Throughout the years of abuse, Nadia held onto her dreams. Since age ten, she had wanted to be an actress. She credits that dream with her survival because it allowed her to escape reality. After twenty years of abuse, she found the strength to make that dream her reality. To support her children, she became a creative businesswoman. Soon she was attending acting school and had become a headliner belly dancer. She even appeared as a guest panelist on the Oprah Show. Today she is focusing on studying film so she can create documentaries. She is a member of Screen Actors Guild and After and has two movies coming out this year. She also has a very successful podcast, The Nadia Sahari Show, and a Youtube series. Please check out Nadia at:

Pageant Social Media Expert, Veronica Olivarez
Beauty Call Podcast
10/17/20 • 31 min
About Veronica:
Veronica is a digital marketing consultant, solo-traveler, and creative professional who believes in living big and laughing often. I specialize in assisting entrepreneurs with digital marketing strategies to help build a clean and effective online presence. After graduating with a BBA in Marketing from the University of Houston and 2 years in the oil industry, I felt something was missing; it was an adventure. A 3-week trip to Spain turned into almost 3 years abroad. The adventure wasn’t just plane rides and books on the beach, it was meeting new entrepreneurial women friends and reconnecting with pageant sisters (I was Miss Teen United America 2009) that were looking to make their mark in the world. All these women had two things in common 1: they needed help with “that social media stuff” and 2: they trusted me with their passwords. For the past 3 years, I have researched and learned the ins and outs of social media and the best practices to build a brand online. I was featured in a Women in Business spotlight for Eclectic Shades Magazine out of Austin, Texas to share my expertise with social media and small businesses. Even with all that I’ve learned, I struggle with imposter syndrome and always think there is someone who knows more and sometimes cringe when I call myself a “social media expert” but the truth is I am a Digital Marketing Consultant, Social Media Expert, and Public Speaker.
Pageant life came full circle Thanksgiving 2018 when I was planning a trip to Sicily to visit my college friend and I had a message from Dr. Corinne Devin, a pageant sister who was stationed in Italy. I told her I was headed her way and invited her to our Thanksgiving dinner to find out she was only 15 minutes away! 9 years later we picked up where we left off and I started working with her and the International Ms. Pageant to support their social media initiatives.
When I am not managing social media accounts, creating content, or learning new digital marketing strategies, I take a break from the screens and go bike riding or crochet a new blanket. I am currently in Montgomery, Texas having coffee with my mom and taking my nephews for ice cream. I look forward to traveling abroad again but excited to explore the great state of Texas in search of beautiful sunsets and good food!
I am finding my place in the world working alongside strong women to help build their online presence, providing someone they can trust as a sounding board for their ideas and join them on their adventure.

Miss Montana USA talks about how she almost didn't compete at Miss USA!
Beauty Call Podcast
06/22/21 • 40 min
Merissa Underwood is an Environmental and Animal Rights activist. She attended Loyola Marymount University pursuing a degree in Political Science. In 2019 she won the title of Miss Montana USA which allowed her to speak openly about the relationship between Animal Agriculture and Climate Change, as well as the ethics of living a vegan lifestyle. As cattle ranching is one of Montana’s largest revenue sources, she was attacked and ostracized for her beliefs. Angry members of the Animal Agriculture industry created a change.org petition which garnered thousands of signatures to strip her of her title of Miss MT USA. She was harassed endlessly across social media platforms and even threatened physically in person by gun wielding ranchers holding military grade weapons in downtown Missoula. Rather than hide and remain silent, Merissa continued to speak out for animals and environmental protection as she traveled across Montana speaking to different groups about the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. During this journey she discovered the importance of speaking to those who disagree and responding with empathy and love, even when hatred was thrown in her face. These experiences brought her to have multiple Op-Ed pieces published, including one in the Billings Gazette, Montana’s largest newspaper. She was a panelist speaker at the Earth Optimism Summit for EarthDay.org in 2020, has been interviewed on many podcasts, including Our Hen House, and went on to compete at Miss USA 2020.
When not using her voice for the planet you can find Underwood DJing, writing, or singing.
