TWO GIRLS, ONE DREAM. A fresh, unfiltered behind the scenes of two licensed esthetician business owners talking all things beauty, business, and everything in-between. With over 20 years combined experience in the industry, Kasey and Lorena have grown successful brick and mortar / e-commerce businesses in Los Angeles and a die-hard following on social media focused on sharing tips and tricks. This led to the creation of “Beauty Biz BFFs’ and together they hope to continue to change the beauty industry by recognizing true creatives and professionals that are breaking the mold.

On today’s episode we talk about adjusting our schedules, the annoyance of home cooking lately, online shopping and re-arranging Lorena’s studio to be more of a creative space rather than a lash studio. We discuss the insecurities that can come from changing focus in your business and how it feels to pull back from the treatment room after being in there for so long. Change is inevitable and sometimes pivoting in your business can promote more growth in the long run! With so many Estheticians still not working in certain states we remind everyone that our licenses are valuable and come with a ton of responsibility! Being so intimate, up close and personal and dealing with skin, oil, blood (skincare) and the eye area (lashes) leaves a lot of room for possible error. While we’re all frustrated, we share our opinions on going back too soon. We wrap up by talking about random tangents and as a always try and make you laugh.

In this episode we cover a few important topics:
Should you be the jack of all trades and master of none or embrace offering multiple services to your clients without getting burnt out?
We take a trip down memory lane and talk about what it was like in the beginning of our businesses and how we adapted and learned from our mistakes.
-taking Groupons
-underpricing
-overworking
-doing services we didn't enjoy
We also discuss how pulling yourself out of your treatment room full time can be beneficial to expanding and growing. There are other ways to make $$ and change lives and it's not just from seeing clients.

On this episode we talk about what it will look like going back to work and in our “treatment” rooms. For some of us there’s no other option but to start taking clients and for others there’s no other option but to wait.
We break down the precautions we see us taking and would like to see for others and discuss whether it’s worth it to see clients if they’re stripped of the comforts that come with getting pampered by us.
We also answer a few questions from you:
“How do I increase engagement?”
“What do I do if my Salon Owner is taking it personally that I’m leaving?”
“How do I deal with a terrible Boss”
“How to pivot in business”

In this episode we talk about getting your weekends back! Being in the Beauty Industry; it’s an unknown must to work weekends but what if that gets tiring or unfulfilling? We discuss setting boundaries and scheduling your clients so that you can enjoy your life less and work more efficiently.
We also talk price increases and why it’s crucial at a time like now. Knowing what you’re worth and also knowing how much you know in order to increase pricing or leaving it as is is important for your business. If you’re wanting to increase your pricing ask yourself if you’re providing that right atmosphere, enough education and advanced skills to do so!
We each talk about www.16personalities.com
where it breaks down your personality. Getting to know yourself more only betters you in business, too.

In this episode we talk about a hot topic: Working on the parts of your business that you don’t see a direct or immediate ROI (return on investment) from like blogging, networking, offering assistance to others in the industry and more. These parts of the business that don’t “pay” you immediately will create a solid foundation for your business in the future.
In this episode we talk about steps we will take to protect our business, clients and ourself moving forward and why it’s so important to protect everyone now.
Lastly, we ask you to write down 3 mentors.
someone above you
a peer
someone who’s been doing it longer
We also ask you to look at social media from a business standpoint and watch what others do. Take emotion out of it and don’t compare your business or to do list to someone else’s but do see what others are doing and find motivation and inspo through that.
