Beat of the Month: Video Game Podcast

Halloween is just around the corner and The Beat of the Month crew are still celebrating October with an episode all about the scariest moments in gaming! We cover the classics like dogs crashing through windows in Resident Evil and monsters jumping out at you while wandering around Silent Hill. We talk about some older games like when we pissed our pants as kids playing Splatterhouse. We also take some liberties with the topic and talk about games that are just plain scary. We also have some...interesting...trivia to round things out. So once again - turn the lights down low and join us for a scary trip down memory lane with some of our favorite scary game moments!

Back in September, IGN hosted a bracket to determine the best game ever made. Some complete omissions, early eliminations, and the final result all had some controversy. So, the Beat of the Month crew decided to look at the entire bracket - match up by match up - and share our thoughts. Batman: Arkham City vs. Super Mario 64? Rise of the Tomb Raider vs. Half-Life 2? Burnout 3: Takedown vs. Chrono Trigger - easy decisions, right? Maybe not...

We also discuss how the IGN list was chosen and what considerations should be made when deciding a 'best' games list. We close out with discussion on what games were omitted that we feel should have been included. It was a lot of fun to cover a huge list of great game matchups, so please join us!

October is here and the Beat of the Month crew is celebrating by playing some Zombie games! We look at some classic remakes with Resident Evil 1 and 3, zombie mode in Call of Duty, a more story based zombie game with Telltale Game's Walking Dead - and more! We also touch on some newer games like Resident Evil 8 and (while not a zombie game) the brand new Deathloop. This week the Beat of the Month crew jump into uncharted territory with a look at Real Time Strategy games! Most of us haven't played a whole lot of games in the genre, but we took a dive into a few games such as Halo Wars, Ogre Battle 64, and more! We also talk a bit about some new games outside the genre such as Little Nightmares 2 and Metroid Dread. Our actions per minute may be limited, but the laughs per minute are as plentiful as ever!
