Judas Priest v Iron Maiden | ENCORE | Martin Popoff Interview
Battle of the Bands
05/25/23 • 47 min
5.0
My guest in this special encore episode of Battle of the Bands: Judas Priest v Iron Maiden is rock and metal historian, Martin Popoff.
Popoff has penned more than 110 books on rock and metal, including a dozen on Priest and Maiden, so who better to discuss the band’s rivalry than him?
We discuss Popoff’s journey in metal, his creative possess, when he discovered Maiden and Priest, Priest’s flirting with commercial sounds, the 1990 court case, why Maiden has been more commercially successful, his thoughts on the Ripper snub, latter day album releases, KK’s split with Priest, and which band he would choose if he could pick only one to listen to on a deserted island.
With that, here’s my conversation with the one and only Martin Popoff.
