One of the more highly debated subjects of the baseball offseason is when the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot gets released. This year, however, there will be no debate about if Ichiro Suzuki will be elected, but rather if he will become only the second player ever to be voted into Cooperstown unanimously, joining Mariano Rivera.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the case for Ichiro possibly collecting 100% of the votes and the reasons why there might be a handful of voters who don’t vote for him, despite his over 3,000 career hits and debuting in the majors at age 27. They also discuss the other potential first-ballot Hall of Famer in CC Sabathia, as well as take a look at the rest of the newest nominees to the ballot.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys discuss Paul Skenes running away with the NL Rookie of the Year award, Luis Gil winning the AL honors despite it being a much closer race than expected and why the Manager of the Year award is a little silly. Jake & Jordan then examine who might receive some MVP votes before talking about a new team added to the Juan Soto sweepstakes.

(1:57) - The Opener: 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame ballot
(13:01) - Interesting first-time nominees
(29:12) - Rookie of the Year results
(34:40) - Manager of the Year results

After opening up the NLCS in blowout fashion, the Los Angeles Dodgers were put on the ropes early in Game 2 following a Mark Vientos grand slam that helped give the New York Mets a lead they would never relinquish. Now, with the series evened up at a game apiece, the focus shifts to Citi Field in Queens.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap all the action from Game 2 including why the Dodgers’ lack of pitching depth finally came back to bite them, the lack of production from the top of the lineup being a big problem and preview the Game 3 pitching matchup.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys take a look at Game 1 of the ALCS that saw Carlos Rodón have arguably his best start as a member of the New York Yankees, leading the Bronx Bombers to a 5-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians. They also discuss how impressive it is to see Giancarlo Stanton being locked in at the plate, why Jose Ramirez could be a problem in Game 2 and Taylor Swift being in attendance with Travis Kelce at Yankee Stadium.

With the 2024 MLB season now in the rearview mirror, the last bit of baseball to take care of is naming the winners of the end-of-year awards. This week, the finalists were announced for MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year and it’s time for us to break down who we think will be taking home some hardware.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman examine all the nominees, whether Aaron Judge will join Shohei Ohtani in being named unanimous MVP, why Zack Wheeler deserves to be the NL Cy Young over Chris Sale and who might steal some first-place votes from Paul Skenes in the NL Rookie of the Year voting.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys discuss the Juan Soto sweepstakes picking up, with him scheduled to meet potential suitors this week, before diving into the listener mailbag where they answer whether the San Francisco Giants or San Diego Padres are the bigger rival to the Los Angeles Dodgers, if Roki Sasaki can sign an extension immediately with whatever team he picks and then make their picks for fan-created awards.

The highest-rated free agent starting pitcher is off the board, and the team he chose shocked everyone. Corbin Burnes agreed to a $210 million, 6-year deal with the surprising Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend and it’s now changed the way people view the already highly competitive NL West division.

Jordan Shusterman is joined by guest host Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet to discuss the stunning signing by the Snakes out West, helping them solidify their already impressive rotation. With the Burnes addition, are they now viewed as the biggest threat to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL? Also, is there any room left in their budget to complement an offensive piece or two in their lineup?

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jordan and Ben talk about the latest signings around the league, including Teoscar Hernandez reuniting with the Dodgers, Sean Manaea returning to the New York Mets and Walker Buehler moving from the West Coast to the East Coast to join the Boston Red Sox. As the 2024 MLB Winter Meetings wrap up in Dallas, the baseball world is still discussing the historic contract the New York Mets handed out to Juan Soto. However, on Tuesday, it was another young, budding superstar who had baseball buzzing, when more details emerged about Japanese star pitcher Roki Sasaki and his free agency.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the media scrum with Sasaki’s agent, Joel Wolfe, which provided a little more clarity regarding the pitcher’s intentions to come to the United States to pitch next season, whether taking the biggest deal is a priority for him and why he’s choosing a different route than fellow countryman Shohei Ohtani.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys talk about the St. Louis Cardinals putting All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado on the trade block and where he could possibly wind up, whether the New York Yankees not offering a suite to Juan Soto during negotiations was truly a dealbreaker that led him to the New York Mets and they provide an update on the Scott Boras Offseason Scoreboard following Tyler O’Neill and Michael Conforto signing deals.

On Thursday, the baseball world finally got some sort of resolve about where the Oakland Athletics will be playing baseball next year. We think at least. A’s owner John Fisher announced the team will be playing at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, the home of the Triple-A River Cats, for the next three seasons.

Jake Mintz & Jordan Shusterman discuss why the A’s needed to find a new ballpark to play after yet another tumultuous start in Oakland this year, the unfortunate situation that the fans are stuck in and the questionable comments made by Fisher being excited to see Aaron Judge hit home runs against his team at their temporary home.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys dive into why the 0-8 Miami Marlins might find themselves in fire sale mode well before the trade deadline because of their rough start. While there are still players to be hopeful about with the Marlins, there are a few players that teams already covet and could make a play for with the team spiraling.

To close out the show, Jake & Jordan bring back the good, the bad and the Uggla to talk about the biggest hits and misses from this week in baseball. Thankfully, one of our favorite players just missed getting hit by a sausage in Milwaukee.

3:07 The A’s are on the move

22:32 Are the Marlins about to sell?

30:19 The Good

34:39 The Bad

39:21 The Uggla

When the ALCS shifted to Cleveland, nobody could’ve expected that we would get an all-time postseason classic in Game 3 between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians. After a game-tying home run from Aaron Judge and a go-ahead homer from Giancarlo Stanton, it seemed inevitable that the Bronx Bombers would go up 3-0 in the series.

The Guardians, however, had other plans.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the epic come-from-behind win by the Guardians that saw Jhonkensy Noel hit a game-tying home run off of Luke Weaver with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, only for David Fry to homer and win the game, sending the ballpark into a state of hysteria in the tenth.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys talk about yet another blowout by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, this time in Game 4 against the New York Mets. With the win, the Dodgers are now only one game away from the World Series. Jake and Jordan wonder if the Mets have finally run out of gas in this magical run or if they can complete another ultimate chapter in their unlikely successful season.

(1:44) - Epic ALCS Game 3
(24:49) - Recapping the 9th inning comeback
(33:29) - NLCS Game 4 recap
(37:58) - Are the Mets out of gas?
(42:37) - Ranking the best moments from ALCS Game 3
