Bare Naked Chats - Getting fierce with finance with Emilie Bellet
play

10/08/19 • 72 min

It was only in the mid 70’s that women were allowed to open a bank account without the permission of a man. Has the history of women not having control of their money left many lingering ramifications on us today? Women and relationships - should we be sharing our money? How come we learn how to put a condom on a banana but not about the benefits of an ISA, or how we should invest in our future, or what having a pension really means?

Well, we wanted to learn more about all of this and how the world of finance can benefit us, so we sat down with the amazing Emilie Bellet, author of “You’re Not Broke, You’re Pre-Rich” and founder of Vestpod, a digital platform with a popular weekly newsletter as well as personal finance workshops and networking events to empower and educate women around money.

Bare Naked Chats - How to Harness Aunt Flow with Le’Nise Brothers
play

09/24/19 • 66 min

Menses, Aunt Flow, Red Wedding, Shark Week, Chum, Time Of The Month,Carrie, Code Red, Girl Flu, whatever you call your period, today we’re here to sit down with Le’Nise Brothers, a hormone and menstruation professional, nutritionist and advocate for womens’ health, to get into the nitty gritty details.

The amount of women who still don’t fully understand their menstrual cycle (ourselves included here) is staggering! Which is why we wanted to talk with Le’Nise and learn more about what part our hormones play and how to harness the power of our periods to our best advantage in business and life. Plus hear how diet and lifestyle changes helped Le’Nise overcome symptoms of anxiety, depression, endometriosis and more.

We learnt so much from our conversation with Le'Nise, and would love to know your thoughts too. If you want to find out more from her you can check out her website here and her instagram here.

In this episode we are talking to Becky Young who founded the Anti Diet Riot Club in 2017 to bring the body acceptance movement out of online spaces and into real life.

Listen to Becky’s story of how she decided enough was enough after dieting for 10+ years. During this brilliant chat we talk about the false dieting dream, the consequences and the realities of dieting and why we do it. How different cultures, families and even our parents can influence our dieting obsessions. We discussed unlearning how we speak, think and treat others, including how to move away from the negative connotations around weight and body image. How dieting and the beauty ideal is a strong political sedative, especially for women. Is the new “normal” a disordered eating trait?

We loved chatting to Becky about this important topic and hearing all she’s doing with the Anti Diet Riot Club.

Do go check out all the wonderful work she’s doing @antidietriotclub and @theantidietriotbus.
