BAND IT ABOUT - Podcast Series
Season 2 of the Band It About podcast series is all about the very heart of the band, the band member who is often hidden away at the back of the stage and sometimes even left in complete darkness. Just who are these mysterious musicians who steer the band through every performance and what makes them take on this role in the first place? We are extremely fortunate to have many talented drummers here in Adelaide, many of them have toured and recorded both nationally and internationally. Please tune in to my podcast series every week and listen in to discover more about what makes a Great musical train driver. Any listeners who would like to learn more about their favourite bands drummer are welcome to message me to make a request and any drummers who are interested in participating in this podcast series can also message me to make a time to be interviewed. All interviews are conducted via phone, making this a Covid friendly setting for recording sessions. You can message me either on the podcast series, via the Band It About Facebook Page, or send an email to [email protected] Please remember to subscribe or follow to my podcast series, and if you like what you hear please rate and or leave a review to help others to discover this podcast too. S2E1 DIETER SCHOELL The Engine Room Drummer 'AUDIO REIGN' Australian Hard Rock/Metal Band , Clearway, Revel, UnChained, Siren, and many more

Dieter Schoell is the drummer for the Australian Hard Rock/ Metal Band 'Audio Reign', and is definitely high in my list of Great Drummers here in Adelaide, South Australia.

During this interview we hear Dieter share his journey, that started when he was a young boy living in Whyalla, who was determined to learn how to play this physically demanding instrument. Devoting his time to learning and practicing, which led to him drumming for many of the most popular bands in Adelaide, and eventually drumming in an original band playing his most loved genre. During my chat with Dieter, I discovered who initially inspired him to play, and how a young man's insistence and passion led to him eventually being the Engine Room for the Adelaide progressive metal band Audio Reign.

We end the episode with Dieter and I having a bit of fun by playing 20 questions in 2 minutes, can you guess how many he manages to get through before the timer goes off?

Music (intro and outro); 'Betrayal' by Audio Reign, please use this link to watch the video of 'Betrayal', this song was the first single released off of their self titled debut Album: 'Betrayal' Audio Reign (video) YouTube Don't forget to Like the video and subscribe to their channel!

S2 E2 MARDI HOGAN The Engine Room: Drummer shares her inspirational story that proves you are never too old to start your musical career.

Mardi Hogan may not be a household name when you think of local drummers, but I have a feeling that'll change very soon. The reason you may not be familiar with Mardi is largely due to the fact that she hasn't actually been playing for very long at all. So what makes a happily married mother who is already busy balancing her career and family duties decide to pick up the sticks for the first time?

Find out how Mardi received a Red Cymbals endorsement despite only being relatively new to drumming. Mardi is living proof that it's never too late to take up an instrument. I found our chat to be quite inspirational as well as informative with Mardi sharing some fabulous tips on mastering the kit!

Mardi is certainly a passionate musician and a delight to chat with, we had a lot in common including our first concert experience! Keep your eye out for her band Easy Tiger, and ladies who like to jam will be pleased to know that Mardi has organised a once a month Girls Jam, for more info please see the link below.

The interview covers Mardi's background, her musical journey thus far, and don't forget to hang around to the end to see how many of the 20 questions Mardi manages to get through in 2 minutes!

Music; intro and outro is a Swing/Jazz practice piece performed by Mardi

Please remember to subscribe, like, follow, rate, and comment (whichever your podcast listening platform allows) to assist my podcast series to reach more music interview podcast listening audiences. If you enjoy this then please leave a comment, I hate to nag but having audience interaction is the only way to get the various podcast platforms to promote a podcast series.

Thank you Di Spillane (aka ) Band It About :)
