Two men spend days on a rusty cargo ship crawling along Amazon River, moving slowly from Leticia in Colombia to Iquitos in Peru. They're late for an appointment. Will reads a few chapters of One Hundred Years of Solitude to pass the time and finds the lines between reality and fantasy blurrier than he'd imagined.
