PDA, Parenting, & Advocating - Everyday Mama: Series
Attempting Motherhood
10/21/24 • 66 min
Everyday Mama: Series
This series consists of chats between Sam and "everyday mamas" sharing their unique and interesting experiences.
Today I'm joined by Regina - a mom who shares her journey of migrating to Australia, discovering her daughter is AuDHD(PDA) and her own late realisation of AuDHD. We go into what the diagnosis process was like for her daughter (and when she realised her own AuDHD) and what supports she has been able to access in the few years since diagnosis. She also shares her daughter's experiences of being a PDA AuDHDer in school and how she advocates for her - including some great tips for fellow parents in Aus.

Mothering as an autistic ADHDer - Amber Collins aka "NeurodivergentAmber"
Attempting Motherhood
11/20/23 • 83 min
(Episode 2)
I was joined by Amber Collins, Neurodivergent Amber, to chat about mothering as an autistic - ADHDer. As to be expected when you get two ADHDers together, the conversation bounced all over the place from mothering to advocacy, to gaslighting yourself pre-diagnosis, the pressure of mothering with social media, and so much more.
A special note for those listeners based in England, at 6:00 she highlights how you can go through your health advisor to refer for suspected autism or other concerns, and at 32:00 we talk about the "Right to chose" pathway to get a private but NHS official ADHD diagnosis.
You can follow Amber on the below socials to learn more about her advocacy work and the exciting projects she has coming up!

Navigating Your Relationship as a Neurodivergent Person with Pasha Marlowe, MFT
Attempting Motherhood
02/05/24 • 70 min
Pasha Marlowe, MFT, joined me to talk about navigating our romantic relationships as a neurodivergent person. She shares her story of being late realised neurodivergent (AuDHD) and queer and how that impacted her marriage.
We discussed how we can fall into patterns as a couple and need to change things up to see these patterns - sometimes that's with the help of a coach/counsellor/therapist.
She gave tips for how to get on the same page with your partner - both in regards to the relationship and parenting. As well as ways we can bring our partners along on our realisation journey, but at their own pace.

Hormones & ADHD Through the Female Life with Dr. Lotta Borg Skoglund
Attempting Motherhood
05/21/24 • 67 min
I'm joined once again by the brilliant Dr Lotta Borg Skoglund. She is a Swedish researcher, physician, psychiatrist, and co-founder of LetterLife.
Her book "ADHD Girls to Women: Getting on the Radar" was just released in English. It's available at all major book sellers and via audiobook.
In this episode we talk about hormones through the female life span - from in utero to perimenopause and everything between.
It was a pleasure to have her once again.
LetterLife is a blog, site, and app created by Dr Skoglund and fellow researchers/doctors/clinicians.
I have been using the app for a few months and love that it helps me track my symptoms and helps me develop more self awareness around my cycle and symptom presentations during my cycle.
There is also a fabulous community board, there is information and articles by leading researchers and professionals across the healthcare world, and so so much more - all of which is included with the free version.
The paid version gives you access to past webinars as well as detailed insights and additional tools.
Download the LetterLife app HERE
They also have a quiz where you can look at your symptoms and get a scale of 1-12.

Building the Community We Needed - Divergently Founder Kendra Koch
Attempting Motherhood
10/29/24 • 58 min
I'm joined by Kendra Koch, founder of Divergently a community platform for late diagnosed neurodivergent women.
We start, as always, with Kendra's motherhood story- which, like my own, is so intertwined with her ADHD diagnosis and realisation. She offered amazing insights on the importance of listening to mother's and their intuition as well as the lost aspect of community in mothering.
This was such a wonderful conversation and it felt like a catch up with an old friend - even tough we've only just met. That's the magic that happens when you get two neurodivergent people together.

Resentment & Expectations in Relationships
Attempting Motherhood
02/20/24 • 32 min
In this episode I talk about resentment and expectations in relationship.
How resentment can take root, what that word may mean for both you and your partner, and so much more.
I also dive into looking at the expectations we place on our partners and how unmet expectations can lead to resentment and even questioning the relationship as a whole. But we shouldn't expect our partners to be all of the things to us. That's impossible.
