"Assam & Darjeeling"

"Assam & Darjeeling" is the story of two children who set out to rescue their dead mother from the Underworld -- a nightmare place where the mythological desperately tries to keep pace with the world above. The children encounter cell-phone carrying demons, forgotten deities from defunct pantheons waiting tables, and one nasty character called Juniper who takes a particular, personal interest in their quest. In the sixth chapter of our story, the children see what's become of their broken, ruined bodies. And then they set out to find their mother.

"Assam & Darjeeling" tells the story of two children who go to the Underworld to rescue their dead mother after a car accident. Along the way, they have adventures with all manner of characters from mythology, folklore, and classical literature . . . and they find themselves pursued In the ninth chapter of our story, the children, having been left behind by the boatman, decide to make their own way down the river -- discovering, in the process, their new names.

In this first chapter, we get acquainted with the main characters, listen in on some arguments, and watch the snow fall.
