Ep.13 Safety Through Empowerment
Now that things have opened up post-pandemic, we are traveling and out-and-about as we were before, but we need to be more aware and vigilant than ever when it comes to our personal safety. We have all had situations where we have felt vulnerable or threatened and having the wherewithal to have an escape plan at that moment can be overwhelming. And what about our children? Many of us are sending them out into the world to college or perhaps to the city for the first big job. How do we teach them safety basics?
When Lorna Selig was a young woman, she managed to escape assault twice. Later as a mother, she participated in a children's safety program, and that is when she had the "lightbulb moment". Lorna knew this was her calling. She wanted to become a champion for personal safety and be a steward of empowerment for women and children. She ended up buying the Safe4Life program and became a successful entrepreneur, speaking to groups and corporations around North America.
In this episode Lorna and I discuss:
-Travel tips
-Living alone or having a partner who travels
-Midlife dating safety
-Out-and-about personal safety
-Protecting our children
