There are SO.MANY. gems in this episode, where do we start?

Carlos Tello - The founder of the successful mexican-based E-Commerce business 'Tienda Komet'. While working and living in Hong Kong, Carlos started the venture with his co-founder Rodolfo, who is in charge of operations in Mexico. This year, 'Tienda Komet' was taken to the next level when Carlos and Rodolfo took part in Shark Tank Mexico and secured 6 million pesos (USD300k) in investments from the Sharks! Tienda Komet is an online marketplace that essentially deals with products returned by customers and in turn, liquidates them in the Komet online store by making them available to Komet's customers by selling them in batches or surprise boxes.

Carlos has such interesting views. He has an amazing ability to describe business strategies in a way that made it so easy to understand even for business amateurs like us! In this podcast we talk a lot about our lives living abroad and the culture shock we faced as asians living in the UK. We sat down with Carlos not just to talk about his entrepreneurial journey, but also his life in Hong Kong as a foreigner/expat! We are excited to have Carlos to talk a little bit about his experience as a Latin-American living in Asia! We will include a link of the youtube video of Shark Tank Mexico where Carlos & Rodolfo were featured on our website, be sure to check it out.

*Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions on mental health, depression, anxiety and suicide. There are some detailed and graphic talk on some of these issues, so before you proceed, listener discretion advised.

Mental health is something that has been attracting a lot of attention in recent years, and over the years, society has become more and more aware of what it means. A person's mental health is so important. It is linked to your physical health and ability to function on daily basis and should therefore be looked after. There is sadly still a stigma around mental health issues, and very often, people who are struggling with their mental health dismiss it as a problem or are even afraid to talk about it, but this is actually a more common issue than we think. In fact, according to the UK Mental Health Foundation, 1 in 6 adults has experienced a common mental health issue in a given week.

Join us this week as we talk about what mental health is and whether society has evolved its understanding of mental health, our experience with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, and how we have learnt to overcome and manage triggers that may impact our mental wellbeing.

Asian Miles Apart - EP26: 36 Questions to Fall In Love
play

02/20/22 • 39 min

Continuing on the theme of love, the three of us decided to look into the famous "36 questions to fall in love" from the New York Times.

These questions were first used in a study to explore whether intimacy between two strangers can be quickly built up by asking each other a series of personal questions. These questions are split into three sets, with each set being more personal than the previous one. Join us in this episode as we answered a selection of questions from this list to test if we feel closer to each other at the end. It was a fun experiment for us!

For those looking to build a deeper connection with your other half, you can find the questions here (https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/09/style/no-37-big-wedding-or-small.html).

Do let us know how you got on!
