As The Story Grows
01/31/16 • 79 min
Megan Osztrosits of Couch Slut hangs with special guest co-host Seth W and I (during the great 2016 blizzard) to talk about early Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania life, a little bit about her band Couch Slut, murder, our love for dogs and conspiracy theories. We absolutely fall apart at the end; SUCH a fun hang.
I talk a bit about #metalbandcampgift club and hitting 20,000 listens in the intro. Thank you everyone!

Adam Robinson of Portlandia
As The Story Grows
02/14/16 • 95 min
Nope. Not kidding. Adam Robinson of the hilarious Portlandia shares his chapter with us...phone issues and all. (Gotta love technology.) Adam was influenced by his musician father who is still in three bands in his mid-70s! He tells us about his new teenage mutant turtles guitar, his mom fighting cancer, his first bands and earliest gigs, his love of the band jellyfish. Adam tells us how Portlandia came to be. It all came from a strange opportunity because "some dude broke his foot"...hey, ya never know. His story of the FIRST time he met Fred Armisen is hilarious and how he's still a fanboy of Steve Buscemi.
I am joined in the intro by Mister Werkheiser and I get to tell you all about the awesome experience I had at an Umphrey's McGee show. This has been a great week.

Chapter 107: "All of Less Art, more or less" ...as read by Mike Minnick of Less Art
What happens when Thrice, Kowloon Walled City and Curl Up And Die all combine their artistic forces? You get Less.
Mike Minnick sits down with me and goes over every square inch of the new Less Art album "Strangled Light" on Gilead Media. Mike was the vocalist of the kegger-ruining band Curl Up And Die from Vegas and now lives in Chicago. Mike was asked to put his honest and gut-wrenching lyrics to this amazing album and offered the time to sit with me and cover it all. He tells a bit of back story, we clean up the alternate facts on his wiki page and then we go track by track for you. Thank you Mike, Less Art, former guests Ian and Riley and Gilead for allowing me to do this. This is getting a nod for AOTY2017 from me. Enjoy all of Less Art.

Chapter 69: "What Didn't Kill John..." ...as read by John LaMacchia of Candiria
YES! John Lamacchia of the almighty and seemingly indestructable Candiria tells us his chapter of the story. "BeBop" tells us of his early band Dead Air and Ken's band Intrigue and how that jam session resulted in John's enterance into the Candiria fold. John Lamacchia tells us about Ken's perhaps 500 deep song vault, the famous accident that should've killed the entire band, literally watching 9/11, prescription drug addiction, his band Spylocopa, new Candiria album with Metal Blade, working with new members Dan and Julio and sleeping in a childs sleeping bag on a dog mattress. Like Candirias' amazing music , there is something in this chapter for everyone. Thanks for listening.

Allan Aguirre of Scaterd Few (Part One)
As The Story Grows
06/21/15 • 107 min
Fly fishing, mountain life, and making punk history...just a few highlights found on this first of 2 chapters of chapter twelve. The Godfather (yup, we said it) of Christian hardcore, Allan Aguirre (aka Ramald Domkus) shares some exclusive history on the origins of Scaterd Few, Cygnet, which later became Spy Glass Blue, and the highs and lows of starting a grassroots street ministry in the meanest streets of Los Angeles, CA in the 1980s amongst gang violence. His legacy with Scaterd Few literally inspired countless bands who would be a massive influence, along with Allan, in the 1990s. Featured here on this first half, we hear about Allan's first pre- Scaterd Few punk band in 1981 that ministered to many in Guatamala. We also get to hear about played in a band with Don Bolles from The Germs and 45 Grave before Scaterd Few, and meeting the legendary Terry Taylor in the early 80s, Allan's relationship with HR and Bad Brains, and what would become the Scaterd Few we know and love in the late 80s and early 90s. This episode is an almost overwhelming wealth of story telling for the hard core Scaterd Few fans out there both young and old.

Dan Frome of Roomrunner
As The Story Grows
05/17/15 • 99 min
One of the busiest human beings we know...Dan Frome afforded us a little time to talk. Get this...when we called him a while back to record, he said "I'll have to get back to you, the band I'm running sound for is about to do Letterman." Yeah. This is the same guy who recorded the Unteachers 7" and some tracks on "A Human Comedy". He now plays bass for Roomrunner and just recorded with J Robbins. (J keeps coming up...anybody know him? We should talk to him.) Dan started running sound for Future Islands about 1 & 1/2 years ago. This new gig has dragged him around the world, Coachella (funny Jared Leto story), David Letterman, just insane. Hear the stories of his super secret recording studio in Baltimore, the legend of that space which has degrees touching Shudder To Think, Ted Nicely, TV On The Radio and other early Dischord folks. Hear how Dan FOUND lost recording reels from bands such as Rodan, The Jesus Lizard and more. His path to today has been bananas.
Special thanks to our pal Bill O'Really for closing our show for us.
