Juneteenth is the national commemoration of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans after the Civil War. The very first commemoration was held in Texas on June 19, 1865. Another View celebrated this historic holiday on Thursday, June 13. Hampton Storytellers Jay Johnson and Sheila Arnold regaled us with stories about Juneteenth. Historian Harvey Bakari shared some little known Black history facts and we had a great time going live to the parking lot with our producer Lisa Godley to share in the party.
