In this episode, Shelby and Anton discuss the portrayal of fossil fuels in textbooks, fracking in Ohio Public Parks, and how methane emissions are affecting the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Segment 1: Is Texas censoring information on climate change? Shelby talks about how the Texas State Board of Education changed its guidelines to “emphasize the ‘positive’ aspects of fossil fuels in science textbooks” and say that global warming is part of natural fluctuations.
Segment 2: Anton dives into a controversial bill called Ohio HB 507 and associated fracking injustices that will be taking place in state parks and public lands. What is fracking? Anton explains in his segment along with its harmful effects on the environment and public health.
Segment 3: Cows are causing the Paris Agreement to fail! Not really, just their farts. Food systems alone will contribute a 1°C rise in Earth’s temperature by the year 2100 and the culprit is methane. As methane is highly produced by the meat and dairy industries, Shelby tackles different ways to cut down on harmful foods and maintain a more eco-friendly diet.
