This week we visited Dan Dainton from Dainton Family... he's unsure. But it's a brewery and brewpub in Carrum Downs (Melbourne). We spoke to Dan way back when he was starting out as a contract brewer and now he told us how is brand has changed and matured. We learned all about the troubles that growth brings, and how Dan has dealt with them.

Ale of a Time - 'sode 67: Shandy from Riders Brewing
play

09/12/16 • 76 min

This week we chat to Shandy from Riders Brewing Co. A two year old Melbourne based brewery they have been quietly doing their thing without much fanfare. However, with capacity soon to triple, we get the lowdown on their beers and plans. We also talk about IPA and whisky, skateboarding, and (as usual) share some ill informed opinions about the machinations of local breweries.

Ale of a Time - 'sode 78: GABS H100 New Zealand - Guest Panel
play

02/27/17 • 66 min

It's a special episode! We asked a panel of New Zealand drinkers and industry types to unpack GABS New Zealand Hottest 100. The first time the list has been announced in NZ, and the first time we've handed over the reins completely. No Dave, no Luke... instead we have Megan Whelan (RNZ Community Engagement Editor), Llew Bardecki (Wild and Woolly), Steph Coutts (Craft Beer College), Dylan Jauslin (The Bottleneck). What a lineup! Hear them talk all about GABS H100 and NZ beer.

This week we pull a podcast from the archives. Somewhat of a lost episode, recorded just before Good Beer Week, Beth Skyped in and talked all about her favourite beer, and how she got to be in charge of NZ's premier beer festival. In addition, we have some (up to date) news, and recommendations.

Ale of a Time - 'sode 75: Hop Nation

01/10/17 • 66 min

We venture into the heart of class-war torn Footscray to speak to Hop Nation. A couple of Kiwi wine makers have become firm podcast favourites and we learn how that happened. We also complain about the heat, talk cricket, and some other stuff. You know how this works by now.

Their website is here. Social links here, here and here.

Ale of a Time - 'sode 69: Jeremy Halse from White Rabbit
play

10/10/16 • 76 min

This week we start at Hop Nation in Footscray, before throwing to White Rabbit in Geelong. We sit and talk all things White Rabbit with the head brewer Jeremy Halse. Since moving from Healesville, they have expanded their barrel aged program and Jeremy tells us about the direction he would like it to go. We learn about life under Lion ownership, life in Geelong, and get some insight into their range and history. Other than that, we talk some absolute garbage about toast, crowd surfing and television. All in all, a great episode.
