Brian Kelsey is a full-time voice-over artist. For the past 20 years, you've heard Brian’s voice on CNN, MSNBC, The Howard Stern Show, MTV, VH-1, NBC, CBS, HGTV and so many others. In addition, Brian voices countless radio stations across the county, and a wide variety of commercials. Radio imaging, an audio book, a documentary, cartoon characters or 'movie trailer', know that Brian may be the voice on the microphone.

Brian started as a radio host and voice actor, working in New York City radio on legendary stations such as Q-104.3/WAXQ-FM and 92.3 K-ROCK/WXRK-FM. It was at K-ROCK where Brian met Howard Stern and began working for him as a writer, producer and as the 'voice' of the Howard Stern Show. After years of voice-over's and creating ridiculous bits for Howard, the opportunity to work for Martha Stewart presented itself. Brian became the host of a 4 hour live talk show on Martha Stewart Living Radio, nationwide 5 days a week. During this time he started doing appearances on Martha's TV show demonstrating DIY projects. As a licensed contractor with extensive knowledge in this space the visibility led to appearances on The Today Show, HGTV, FOX, and eventually landed Brian a short run home renovation television show on NBC called 'Kelsey On The House'. All along the way he played the role of editor, cinematographer, producer and continued in the voice overs industry. Brian also started a YouTube channel centered around media & tv/podcast production. This led to building a ridiculous television talk show set in his garage and ultimately seeing who is brave enough to stop by.

Part 4 of 4, has Brian telling us about his mentors on the Radio and in Radio Imaging. He reveals some other project on which he has lent his voice. We also find out if he’s been successful getting Howard Stern on his new TV show. And who else he may have his sights on to appear as he continues to build the momentum of 10 Minutes With Brian Kelsey.

In the early 1970s, Bobbi Silver began her career path on the record label Radio road. Bobbi was hired as a promotions assistant at Jamie/Guyden Records from a chance dinner meeting among friends. Bobbi’s first major label gig was with Chrysalis Records.
She was in the early day trenches of RSO Records working projects (like Saturday Night Fever, Grease, The Bee Gees, Andy Gibb, and Eric Clapton) and Casablanca Records with projects like Donna Summer, The Village People, and KISS.
During the 80s, Bobbi, was working the best up and comers on the RCA, Polygram, and Polydor record labels. The 90s arrived with a completely different music scene, and Bobbi was brought on to the Geffen Record label working Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Cher, Whitesnake, and Aerosmith.
Geffen merged with Interscope and A&M to become one label,,,and THE one constant was Bobbi Silver who stayed on with them until her decided retirement after 42 years in the Record & Radio industry. Listen as Bobbi tells us many of her favorite recollections from the Records and Radio road.

Barry Scott is the host of Radio specialty show, “The Lost 45s.” “The Lost 45s” is home to America’s Largest Classic Hits Music & Interview Library with Barry Scott as curator of charted records that no longer receive adequate airplay. The daily and weekly programs have been in national syndication since 1993, heard in over 60 markets. “The Lost 45s” has America’s largest library of over 1,000 EXCLUSIVE recording artist interviews.

Barry is also an author. His first book is titled, “We Had Joy, We Had Fun,” published by Faber & Faber, and is an international bestseller. “The Lost 45s” has been recognized by many national publications, including Billboard, Radio and Records, Rolling Stone, Spin and the New York Daily News. Barry Scott has appeared on VH-1’s “Behind The Music,” CNN, “Good Morning America,” “Entertainment Tonight” and Howard Stern. He is recognized nationally as one of the foremost authorities on pop music.

Barry’s radio career started at age 5 in his bedroom, announcing records, news and weather. He often laments the existence of a cassette tape of one such show, secretly recorded by his father. Barry’s Middle School music teacher encouraged him to attempt a broadcasting career.

“The Lost 45s” began at Emerson College in 1981.

In part two of this four part AIRCHECK session, Barry reveals how so many music publications get artist facts wrong, including the real story around Captain and Tennille’s wedding day. Barry also tells us how the The Lost 45’s show is produced with his thousands of audio clips and train wreck segues. We hear some of his many interviews including Beach Boy Brian Wilson and Cher. Plus how his conversation with Smokey Robinson landed him a call from Aretha Franklin and almost Stevie Wonder. Also hear how an on air Whitney Houston tribute, the day she died, almost got him fired.

Greg O’Brien, the O-B, is a nationally recognized voice over veteran for the Television and Radio industries. Greg’s booming pipes were first heard on the air in New York’s Hudson Valley in the late 1980s, before making the move to the recording studio in the early 2000s. He is currently founder and head of his own voice over company, Greg O’Brien Voiceovers, www.gregobrienvo.com

Originally from Ramsey, New Jersey, Greg’s Radio career began as an intern at 102.7 WNEW/New York during his late 20s while working in the banking industry. Those years were essential to Greg in developing an appreciation for Radio, while receiving hands on knowledge and experience from the heritage WNEW air staff, including Dave Herman, Scott Muni, Carol Miller and Ray White among others. Just up the New York State Thruway, there was an on-air position opening at WPDH/Poughkeepsie. Greg got the job, and as the Dyson family owned Crystal Radio Group grew, adding more Radio Stations to its portfolio, Greg segued into Programming.

As Radio Ownership changes began to happen with these Radio Stations, Greg decided to pursue his passion for the voiceover industry. After spending 14 years with Bill Young Productions as a national voice talent, Greg stepped out on his own to begin his own voiceover company.

In part three of this four part AIRCHECK session, Greg gets upgraded from WPDH to run their sister station WRRV. We also find out how Greg and Rich DeSisto ended up meeting as they both found themselves on the radio in New York City at Pure Rock Q104.3 (WAXQ-FM). Greg also reflects on the moment he decided to take a leap of faith and leave the NY metro area to pursue his voiceover career in Houston with Bill Young Productions.

Binky Philips is that guy who wanted to be a rock star. Born and raised in Brooklyn Heights, and when 1972 rolled around, Binky was the guitarist/songwriter for the Planets. Stages saw the Planets opening for bands like The New York Dolls, KISS, The Ramones, Blondie, and television. Binky was threaded into the fabric of the heart of a pure organic moment of creativity and paradigm change as a regular performer at CBGB and Max's Kansas City.
Our friend, Binky, was more than a musician. He has been involved in many aspects of the Radio/Music industry including record store operator, independent Radio promotion representative, as well as musician manager.
Our guest is also an author. My Life In The Ghost Of Planets: The Story Of A CBGB Almost-Was – A Single Notes Book features many tales from the back stage curtain to center stage and beyond.
Binky was kind enough to share many of these stories with us, and more!!!
