Adventures in SLIGHTLY Above Average Parenting
Welcome to Adventures in Slightly above average Parenting. I’m Max’s mom. The artist formerly known as Candice your guide into B- parenting and lessons we learn along the way. When kids are little, gender is a very big deal. It was and is no different in our house. Maximus currently, proudly identifies as a BOY. He lived up to the stereotype of a boy as well. He jumps off of everything. Sits in my lap and farts and thinks it is funny. It’s always interesting when he observes something that goes against societal “norms” and challenges his perception of gender. This week we are going on a Gender Bender down the yellow brick road. SPONSOR: This episode is sponsored by Hey GURL HEY Health and Fitness. The mission of Hey G.U.R.L. Hey! Health & Fitness is to build a community of support and encouragement among women. At HGH we advocate for self-care, health, and fitness through knowledge, accountability, validation and fun! Have an immersive experience and join the HGH “Relax. Reset. Recharge” women’s retreat in sunny Palm Springs, CA. happening October 25-27th. Women will unplug from their daily lives to be challenged, supported and encouraged by dynamic guest presenters, hands-on workshops, fitness fun and more. Why? Because YOU DESERVE THIS! Visit HeyGURLFitness.com for more information. Remember YOU DESERVE THIS! @bondingwithabook Suggestions: Except when they Don't by Laura Gehl - This rhyming picture book encourages children to celebrate their individuality and lets them know that it's okay to play with whatever toys they want. Parenting Toolbox suggestion: Puzzle- Puzzles teach an array of early childhood skills that translate into the development, real and academic world. Developmentally, children are working specifically on memory, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness and orientation. Academically, they are learning problem-solving/strategic thinking. Interpersonally, they learn to set small goals. Maybe the first time they do the puzzle they look at the picture for guidance, the next time they try without the image. Or they time themselves. There are so many great skills that can be earned with $1 and a little time. Also, they are small enough to carry around and whip out when needed.
