This is a special episode where I bring you some live on-the-spot-recordings from the American Adoption Congress Conference in Washington, DC. I talked with attendees and presenters about their highlights and key takeaways from the conference (encompassing personal, legislative work, and professional topics). I share about the Adoptees On listener meet-up and a clip from my keynote speech. This episode also includes an uncomfortable update about an incredibly challenging moment during the conference.

287 | Ande Stanley
On today’s show we’re welcoming Ande Stanley, creator and host of the podcast, The Adoption Files. Ande is a late discovery adoptee, only finding out accidentally when they were in their thirties. We talk about how that happened, and the reactions of adoptive family members to Ande finally being in on the secret everyone knew but them. We also discuss how Ande found their way to the adoptee community and how some initial bad interactions, instead of deterring them, instead lead the way to Ande becoming a community builder.

The Flourish Experience
Adoptees On

219 | The Flourish Experience
Today we are talking about The Flourish Experience. You’re going to hear from multiple people who participated in a year-long group focused in on adoptee community through writing and sharing together weekly.
I hope what you hear is that connecting deeply with other adopted people is possible. So many of them share that by being vulnerable they’ve been able to be truly seen by their peers, and for some that’s brought a measure of healing. There have been many different lessons learned through their year together, and I am honoured to get to share some of those with you today. For the majority of the show you’re going to hear from Catie Samantha Peck, LMSW, and Michelle Hinton, with multiple other authors chiming in with their thoughts throughout. The members of the 2021 Flourish group hope this book will guide and inspire you to find your own Flourish Family.
