Episode 2 - Roger Madelin CBE
Accelerating Careers in Real Estate
05/30/20 • 52 min
This evening I am joined by Roger Madelin CBE, Head of British Land’s Canada Water masterplan and former CEO of Argent and the chief visionary for Kings Cross. Roger and I discussed his earliest career from contractor to developer, the struggles he faced with a scheme like Kings Cross, what drives him and motivates him. He has a true passion for what he does and an incredible engine and confidence that he was on the right path with Kings Cross well before others saw the same vision. What I found fascinating was talking to Roger he has reached some dizzy heights in terms of titles and responsibilities but had no problem sharing and ultimately relinquishing these titles as he concentrated on his passions: the projects and the impact these have on the people in them.

Episode 4 - Brian De'ath
Accelerating Careers in Real Estate
06/25/20 • 35 min
In this episode I sit down with Brian De’ath to hear of his career from estate agent to one of the most recognisable names in residential sales in London. His role at Canary Wharf means he is in control of 4,700 residential pipeline for the goliath of London property Canary Group, but joined them at a time when they had never delivered a single home. We talk about the importance of seizing those opportunities, having an open mind and remaining humble. I ask Brian what it meant to work for the huge personalities of Tony Pidgley, Killian Hurley and Sir George Icaobescu. You can make up your own mind on why Brian has succeeded but for me it was his drive, determination and eagerness to put himself in those uneasy situations and gain the energy from those events to succeed.

Episode 14 - Amelia Bright
Accelerating Careers in Real Estate
11/11/20 • 43 min
In this episode I get a chance to sit down with Amelia Bright, Executive Director of the London Estate for Grosvenor UK&I. Responsible for assets of £5bn in Mayfair and Belgravia. Amelia's career to the passerby may seem straightforward in that she has been with the same employer for 13 years. However within that time she has taken responsibility for asset management, investment, development and placemaking; in the UK and US. For me she really embodied the character of an accelerator, someone who was very conscious of her own development and a drive to keep learning and to be challenged. She wouldn't admit it but all the more impressive to have created and seized these opportunities within a single employer in such a short period of time.
