From Tranya to Eaglebauer: The career of Clint Howard
A Very Suspect Podcast
06/02/20 • 52 min
"Let us have.. Tranya! Ah..Hahahaha.."
And with that, our collective minds were forever altered, the image of an odd space child with an adults' strange cadence confronts Captain Kirk and laughs that bizarre laugh..
Clint Howard is one of those character actors you have seen.
Maybe in a cameo, maybe in a larger part, but you have seen him.
As the younger brother of Ron Howard, the man has been in excess of 250 films but only starred in two. His small role as Eaglebauer in the seminal Rock & Roll High School is classic. Rug Head in The Wraith is unforgettable. His performances as the star in Ice Cream Man and Evilspeak are sublime...
Or maybe we're just partial to the guy here in Suspect land..
Come with us on a dive into the career of the one true Clint.... Clint Howard!
NOTE: Due to technical issues of recording remotely Glenn's audio is a little choppy - it's been cleaned as best as we can and hope it doesn't detract too much from your enjoyment of our prattling on.

More Suspect History
A Very Suspect Podcast
11/14/19 • 61 min
Luis and Glenn again discus the history of Suspect, discussing memorable moments, insane customers and other stories that could only happen in a cult video store.
There's also an emphasis on the the crazy amount of celebs that came into the store - while occasionally there's hammering heard as the next door neighbor is apparently fixing up his place.(and as expected, they do veer off topic a couple of times).
Topics include:
Signings in the store.
Celebrity encounters.
Planet of the Apes.

Agent Provocateur: A Suspect Look at the wild world of Lydia Lunch Part 1
A Very Suspect Podcast
05/19/22 • 53 min
STRONG WARNING: THIS EPISODE CONTAINS ADULT MATERIAL AND MAY OFFEND (But that's what Lunch is all about)
Author, musician, actor, performance artist and..the object of Glenn's unwholesome attention. Lydia Lunch has had the kind of underground carreer that suffers no fools. That proves that anger can be weilded like a sharp blade into the guts of the mainstream with NO apologies.
For decades now Lydia Lunch has provoked middle american values and continues unabated. From entering the New York underground scene as a 16 year old, forming a band that would be a seminal part of the NoWave scene, , to her work in the Cinema of Transgression and more. We hope you enjoy this first part of our look at Lydia Lunch, whether you're familiar with her or especially if this is your introduction to her.

He's been called the godfather of punk, the king of shock rock, the heavy metal monster!

Hey Sport! Part 1 of our look at Harvey Keitel !
A Very Suspect Podcast
09/26/20 • 51 min
Harvey Keitel has been one of the most interesting, vibrant actors of his generation. Fearless in his choices of roles, few actors have appeared in both mainstream fare like 'Sister Act' while also exploring the extremes of his craft by inhabiting such flawed characters as the 'Bad Lieutenant'. Part one of our chat will explore Keitel's early 1970's work with his work with directors like Martin Scorcese, Paul Schrader and Ridley Scott.
Join Luis and Glenn on part one of their informal plunge into the career of one of their fave American actors.

The World of the Planet of the Apes: Part 1
A Very Suspect Podcast
01/20/20 • 38 min
The only good human.. is a dead human !!!
We delve into the series that will not die!
It began with a french science fiction book by the author of BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI which was (kind of loosely) adapted into a major motion picture that resulted in countless cultural memes.
There was no plans of any kind of sequel but money (plus ideas) talk and here we are, decades later and the Apes continue their cultural march across all media.
In this first of a 3 episode series Luis and Glenn tackle the book and the first two entries.
Cool audio clips abound !!

The Night has a Hero: The World of Clive Barker Part 2
A Very Suspect Podcast
09/01/20 • 60 min
The success of Hellraiser and the Books of Blood led Clive Barker to more exploration into the dark recesses of media. Comic books, both based on his movies and original concepts, came out in the 1990s and of course, his paintings and illustrations emerged into the forefront of the Barkerverse.
Join Luis and Glenn on part two of their informal plunge into the depths of the vibrant career of a one of a legend.
