A Touch from the Past - The Beverly Hills Bermuda Triangle
play

09/18/20 • 39 min

Check your compass and be extra careful while driving or flying because this week we went to the Beverly Hills Bermuda Triangle aka The Golden Triangle. The area is known for the bizarre tragedies that happened within it.

Starting in 1946 with aviator legend Howard Hughes crash landing his XF-11 plane into a home, the triangle saw lots of horrific accidents and crimes. One year later, notorious gangster Bugsy Seigel was shot five times across the street from the crash site in his girlfriend’s home. Then things stay quiet for 19 years until Jan Berry of Jan and Dean is driving at high speeds in his brand new 1966 Corvette Stingray and hits a parked truck head-on, resulting in a two-month-long coma and long-lasting health problems.

The most bizarre of the tragedies was in November 2010, when publicist to the stars Ronni Chasen is driving home after the premiere of Burlesque and is shot two times at a stoplight by an unknown assailant. The Beverly Hills police department closed the case in 2013, claiming it was a case of road rage gone tragically wrong. But her loved ones are convinced otherwise still to this day.

A Touch from the Past - A Haunting in Texas w/ Raymond Abel
play

09/11/20 • 39 min

Mega-talented storyteller, Raymond Abel, joins us today to tell us all about his experience at W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, and a haunted apartment in Los Angeles, CA. Every ghostly interaction he’s had is musical in nature. From a piano-playing ghost to an operatic spirit, Raymond is assembling a paranormal jam band. Speaking of which, at 37 minutes and 46 seconds, moments after making a joke about a ghost playing the recorder, you can hear a couple of notes on what sounds like... a recorder. We did not add that in, nor is this a joke! Please listen and let us know what you think it is. We give this haunting an 8 out of 10 ghosts!

A Touch from the Past - Haunted House on Mulholland Drive w/ Alexander Rodriguez
play

08/07/20 • 46 min

We had the pleasure of getting scared by TV and radio’s Alexander Rodriguez, the host of “On the Rocks with Alexander: Where Celebrities and Cocktails Mix” and boy did he have a terrifying tale of a haunted house on Mulholland Drive to share! Jen had tears for fears streaming from her eyes after hearing about the aggressive presence in the basement of the house that was once closed off with concrete. What were they trying to keep in?!? And why do the scariest things always happen between 3:00 and 4:00 AM?!?

Every culture has a variation of an apparition or a shadow figure that brings on sleep paralysis. We discuss these terrifying presences and the one that paralyzes Alexander every six months.

A Touch from the Past - UFO's Over LA

UFO's Over LA

A Touch from the Past

play

07/25/20 • 34 min

What’s that in the sky?! It’s a UFO or a weather balloon or maybe an attention seeking rocket. This week Jen and Clark discuss two times when Angeleno’s had a close encounter of the third kind. The first time took place in the winter of 1942 when tensions were high and people were gullible. A cluster of lights in the sky became the Battle of Los Angeles. The second time was more recent and turned out to be the Falcon 9 rocket, launched without warning by the stunt queen herself, Elon Musk of SpaceX.

Clark also discloses that his mother was abducted by aliens, just as casually as this is written. No big deal, just another night in West Covina.

Please give us a rating on Apple Podcast, follow us on the socials or send us YOUR stories of alien encounters at [email protected], and please let us know if it’s ok to read on our next episode. Thank you for listening and have a spoOoOoOoky weekend!

Episode 15: The Greek Theater

A Touch from the Past

play

06/12/20 • 35 min

We posted on the socials, asking where YOU wanted US to go and explore and a lot of people wanted to hear about The Greek Theater. Clark Canez and Jen Curcio listened and promptly hiked up to the Greek. Opened in 1931 and funded by the last bit of Griffith J. Griffith's fortune, OF COURSE, THIS PLACE IS HAUNTED.

The Greek Theater is the much-beloved concert venue to a lot of Angeleno's and it's also built on cursed land. We have some dark history and spooky specters to talk about this week.

As always, we love hearing from you about your experiences at the places we talk about and we want to know where you want us to go. So please email us at [email protected] or follow us on IG and Twitter.

A Touch from the Past - Southwestern Law School AKA Bullocks on Wilshire
play

05/29/20 • 22 min

This week Clark Canez and Jen Curcio go back to 1929 and explore the Bullocks Wilshire department store, but you probably know it as Southwestern Law School. The interior was designed by Eleanor Lenor and was pulled together by eight unique pieces of art in Art Deco style by artists from Los Angeles. Once known as the Cathedral of Commerce, this decadent department store had such fantastic deals people shopped ’til they dropped to the afterlife and decided to stick around FOREVER! Even though it’s now a law school, the shoppers of the past are still looking for a deal. We also have our first sponsor from the past.

A Touch from the Past

play

05/01/20 • 39 min

Welp, Jen's birthday trip to Europe got canceled thanks to the pandemic. So this week Clark takes Jen on a virtual tour of haunted AF Europe. There's a lot of history over there, which of course means there are tons of hauntings to discuss. Clark selected some top-notch spots from his time in Edinburgh and Prague to discuss on this weeks episode, including:

Edinburgh

1. Edinburgh Underground Vaults - we talk occult interior design and the horrible fire above ground that melted the people in the vaults below.

2. University of Edinburgh College of Medicine - this world-famous college needed cadavers for education and paid a pretty pound for each pound (of flesh) which led to MURDER.

Prague

1. Prague Astronomical Clock - Installed in 1401, it is one of the most beautifully crafted clocks ever.

2. Cloak of Conscience - Created by Anna Chromý, a woman's face is said to appear on the statue's blank face.

3. Celetná - A headless templar has been witnessed pacing in this alley.
