The Death of “Real Music" and The Problem of Legend Talk
06/04/20 • 23 min
In this video essay, I provide commentary on how with more and more artists entering the music industry, comparison is inevitable especially when discussing the greats like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, and Mariah Carey who have changed the face of music. However, I question the use of calling certain acts "legends" and also if holding new acts to these standards is fair, and the so-called “death” of real music. A pop of culture is a video essay and podcast hosted by The Esoteric and Facetious where he provides commentary regarding pop culture, social justice, and the human experience, and how the three interact.
