A statement from Jonathan:

"I made the song featured in my piece just within a few days because it spoke to me so much and I felt that this was a song I was really connecting with. It was like a visual painting came to life from my head. So I decided that it needs to be out there in the world and released it. This piece was created as an explanation to what the song is about and who I am as an artist. I feel like what I truly want with my music is for my stories to be heard and related to, so hopefully I can inspire and help others just by speaking to them through songs."

Moreover, Queen P reminds us through her work that her journey has taken her to countless places not only in the physical sense but also in a spiritual and emotional odyssey. During her trek, she has mastered the skilled significance of being “still”, listening and observation, and now she is excited about whatever adventures are in store. The Journey Continues!

A statement from Queen P:

"I was asked to write and read the poem Mother and Daughter in the summer of 2019 for a special event for young black girls that were being mentored and trained to become active workers with building up their communities. I felt that I had a responsibility (being a mother of two daughters) to share my memories of my daughters, and spread words of wisdom and encouragement through my poetry. My hope was that the words would resonate with the young ladies as well as their mothers. There’s no greater bond than that of a mother and her daughter."

A Moment of Your Time - 316 - “Back in Illinois” by Nancy Hays & The Heffernans
play

11/12/21 • 3 min

Nancy Hays is a singer/songwriter originally from central Illinois, who has recorded five albums and made five tours of the UK with her original country music. Nancy also opened for country icons including Conway Twitty, Ronnie Milsap, Glen Campbell and many others. Nancy's maternal roots were rural farmers from the Midwest. Nancy's best friend growing up was one of nine children from a large farm family. Between performances on the road with her band, Nancy would visit her best friend, Connie Wise. Back in Illinois was written about her fond memories of times spent on the Wise farm and also her thoughts of home, especially when far away. Many years later, three of Nancy's four children began performing with her under the name Nancy Hays & The Heffernans (Nancy's husband is Sean Heffernan). Nancy's other son, Eddie, creates the family music videos. Nancy decided to record Back in Illinois, with her extended family. Matthew plays fiddle and sings harmony and daughters Mary and Caroline provide harmony vocals. The song made its radio debut on iHeart Radio in 2019. It is produced by Nashville based producer, Randy Gardner.

A statement from Angela:

"I had written this story back in August of 2021 as I was going through some old photographs that I had found in an old tote, in the back of my bedroom closet. It really made me reflect back on both the good and bad times that I had growing up and made me realize just how far I had come from being a scared, confused little girl to a very strong and resilient woman, who will always advocate for others to let it be known that the chains of trauma can be broken. I have felt a prompting from my higher power to let my story unfold as a way to cast a light on others so they may find their own value in their identity as I have by letting them know they are not alone."

A statement from David:

"The Mountain Man series was the result of reflections on the nature of great art, and how it can offer us insights into the nature of the human condition. The Song Dynasty landscapes not only capture the natural beauty of the material world, but also serve as beautiful metaphors for the inner spiritual world of human beings as well. These poems were written as an attempt to capture that same kind of quality in verse."

A Moment of Your Time - 302 - “The Butterfly” by Pari Meg

05/18/21 • 4 min

Pari Meg is a strong girl trying to inspire others. From the horrid experiences she went through nothing could stop her. Nothing can hurt her. She is a college student trying to make it big and make a name for herself. Whether it’s through film or art, she wants to be remembered. And she wants to help others any way she can. She is based in California.

A Statement from Pari:

"When I was ten years old, I spent a lot of my time in the hospital. Thinking in my head, I wish I could just die. My right hand doesn’t work, my speech is gone. What’s the point. Because of the tragic experience, I now have PTSD, depression, and anxiety. And it’s still hard to this day. I try to go one day at a time and try not to over think. I have good days. I have bad days. But I never give up. My own father tried to commit suicide and after that experience there’s no way I would do anything like that. Life is hard, but never give up. I recently lost all of my money in my bank account and I’m really stressed out. But I’m trying to go one day at a time.

I created this piece to show others to never lose hope. It will get better. And I’ll always be there if anyone wants to talk.

I have been through a lot in my life. The hospital, losing my home, my father, just all the bad luck. I will stop nothing to never give up. I want to inspire everyone. I don’t want to worry about anything in my life, whether it’s financials or pain. I want people to know my name. Yes, not everyone is going to love me and that’s okay. If I can help at least one person and make them laugh, I know I’ve done my job."

A statement from Henny:

"I had a conversation with my parents during lockdown about how children's imaginations and view on reality is so vastly different from the older generations, and how, why, when that innocence and magic disappears - It made me think about my own experience and at what point I figured out that my crazy ideas didn't align with the adult-universe. And so I figured I would write it all down, in hope that someday I would get to talk to others about it and see whether they felt the same way."
