When we last left China, the Han Dynasty had just faced its final collapse, officially ending in 220 CE as central power deflated under the weight of rebellions, corruption, and power-grabbing courtiers. In its place, there arose three nations which each claimed the right to rule. These were the Eastern Wu, the Shu Han, and the Cao Wei, which I will refer to as the Wu, Shu, and Wei states.
