This week I speak with Amber Higgins. She is an entrepreneur, award-winning actress, producer, and artist. Amber has brought her vision and creativity to life through her film career, ministry, and clothing designs. She is committed to helping people conquer their fears with the goal of teaching others how to enjoy the journey of living a purposeful life. It is important for Amber that each person understands why they were made as in Psalm 139 which reveals that each person has a story to bring glory to the kingdom. We discuss her life experiences in a brave and vulnerable way. It’s amazing to see how Amber took the very things that were meant to keep her down and used them as an incentive to be fierce and bold! The hope she found from her faith in Jesus has propelled her forward. I love that her boldness and hope are contagious, that she inspires others to rise up and walk into their calling too! You won’t want to miss this inspiring episode!

This week I speak with Theresa Miller. She is a wife, mother of four, and homeschool parent. Weaving words together has been the expressive outlet she has enjoyed from a young age, bringing clarity to life’s complexities. Theresa authored Heavenly Glimpses blog from 2009-2014, where she captured glimpses of the extraordinary in the ordinary everyday life of motherhood . She has been published on InCourage, Sally Clarkson’s Mom Heart blog, MOPS ezine, and others. She currently writes encouragement for women on social media and manages and writes a blog with three of her sisters. As we looked back at her life over the years it became cathartic to see how God had been truly writing her story all along. Don’t we all try to steal the pen away from Him and write a few chapters on our own? I know I have! But He so graciously weaves even those rebellious moments intricately into the kingdom story He has for us. You will see your story in her story, in the beautiful plans God has for our lives even in the midst of difficulty and You will be encouraged!

This week I speak with Laura Mendenhall, an author, coach, wife, and mother. You won’t want to miss this amazing heartfelt conversation about so many aspects of her life. We talk candidly about how the church needs to find ways to help families with special needs children, about laying down what you thought life would be like to help your child live the life they deserve, about choosing perseverance instead of failure, about appreciating the here and now, seeing the true value In the things that are right in front of you, and about adopting a 24-hour mindset to purposefully love fast and live slow. You will be inspired!

September is NICU awareness month which makes a commitment to inspire hope and to honor families experiencing a stay in the neonatal intensive care unit and the health professionals who care for them. In line with this effort this week I am sharing Sarah Ward’s incredible story! Sarah has three children all of whom had a stay in the NICU. Her first birth of her twins found her being rushed to the hospital only two days after her baby shower. Her girls were whisked away from the operating room without her ever getting to hold them, or worse yet even see them - Heartbroken and confused by the realities of their situation the Wards plodded through until the girls were able to come home. When their son was born he was 37 weeks Sarah had high hopes of a more typical birth experience. She was able to hold her baby after giving birth to him and all seemed well until they took him for some tests and never brought him back. The trauma and disappointment came yet again and Sarah and her husband did their very best to make it through - Having survived all this, they wanted to give back somehow to the amazing NICU community and organizations that help NICU families, so they wrote a children’s book which we will tell you all about in the episode. The thing I find so beautiful about that is that when their girls had their stay Sarah’s husband loaded his arms with books from home and spent the days reading to the girls as a way to bond with them when they weren’t yet able to hold them. He also encouraged her to take a poem that she had written the girls as their birth story and turn it into a children’s book to bring hope to others going through what they had endured. You will be inspired by this raw honest conversation about their experiences!

This week I speak with Mary. Mary is a wife, a mom, a grandmother, but there was a time when she wrote books and spoke on stages sharing her deep struggles with Anorexia and her victory through Christ to become a personal trainer who experienced the gift to not only keep her body healthy but to help others to do the same. As life went on she had to work a regular job at Wawa to help support her family. Stuck in what she calls a “sacrificial season” for much longer than she imagined, she has laid down her dreams in order to follow God’s leading even though she doesn’t understand why he has her where he does. Can you relate? Have you ever been doing exactly what you felt you were on this earth to do and then suddenly everything changed? Are you waiting for another turn to step into what you have been dreaming of? But what if God were using Mary to do something unimaginably more than what she could do writing books and speaking at conferences? What if the scope of her presence in the everyday moments had a greater impact on the world for God’s kingdom? What if God placed a shining light in the darkness? What if he does that with us? Will we shine for him even when we struggle with the darkness around us? You won’t want to miss this vulnerable interview. You will see your story in Mary’s story and you will be encouraged!
