Seattle-proud music extraordinaire Macklemore, known for his Grammy Award winning album "The Heist" from 2012 (a collaborative effort with producer Ryan Lewis), gives us a glimpse into what his life has been like these past few years. His second solo project since he disbanded from longtime partner Ryan Lewis, "BEN" is an album of true life stories, genre bending tracks, and a plethora of features spanning anywhere from NLE Choppa to The Dance Monkey Lady. Tumblr era Crybaby singer/songwriter, Melanie Martinez, released her latest album “Portals” in March of this year. This album shows the change in sound she’s developing that is unlike her previous albums “K-12,” and “Crybaby,” or her EP “After School.”
In this new project, Melanie Martinez declares her previous character, Crybaby, dead and starts a new chapter with a fairy grunge aesthetic with dark pop songs. Each song has a unique sound that transports the listeners into this new era from the alt-pop age to this new pop-rock version of the artist.
With Portals, Martinez is telling her story of a creature between Earth and the afterlife and explores toxic relationships, self exploration, and life and death itself.
